American Kickboxer
Having been in the business for 14 years, American Kickboxer
has worked nearly everywhere and has seen nearly everything. I was fortunate
enough to get to do a "10 Questions With.." this great wrestler
and am honored to present here on WrestlingClothesline.com
1. What made you want to become involved in pro wrestling?
I got to see my first wrestling match in 1977, this was Big Time Wrestling
at the time, in Dayton Ohio, the Main Event was The Sheik vs Pampero Firpo,
from that moment on all I ever wanted to be was a Wrestler, I watched
everything from Georgia Championship, Mid Atlantic, WWWF from the Spectrum
and Madison Square Garden, I just loved wrestling from moment 1
2. Where were you trained? When and where was your first match?
I was trained by Les Thatcher, Bull Pain, Tracey Smothers, and Rip Rodgers,
My first match was on June 18th 1990 in Corbin Ky
3. What promotions have you worked for? Of all the promotions
you have worked for, which have been your favorites?
IWA Mid South, Juggalo Championshit Wrestling, Kick Ass Wrestling {Memphis},
XICW, NWA New Jersey {Late Dennis Carluzo} OVW, Power House Wrestling{Illinois},
Cleveland All Pro, ICW {Michigan}, EWF {Indiana}, BBW {Kentucky}, Insanity
Pro Wrestling {Indiana}, New Jack City {Jersey}, and many more that I
can't honestly remeber{ No Offense to anyone, the initials just run together
after a while}
I liked IWA Mid South alot because I was able to display my
talents with Tarek the Great on a weekly basis and gain alot of recognition,
1997 Fued of the Year and High Flyer of the Year {Wrestling's Lariat}
4. What do you feel has been the highlight of your career thus far?
Being able to give back to wrestling, I had a match with The Iron Sheik
for the Insane Clown Posse's JCW Volume 1 video tape, {Izzy High} and
it was such a pleasure to be able to give Iron Sheik a great match, in
a time that he might not have been in his best physical shape. Thats what
I believe is missing is wrestling at this time, that respect and honor
for those that have given us this business to take care of.
5. What has been your most embarrassing moment in the business?
Making an ass out of myself on ICP Tour, many stories have been told of
my stupidity on that tour, and honestly wish it was somthing I could change,
because it made people question my professionalism.
6. Who have been some of your favorite people to step into
the ring with or against?
Chris Hero, Poison Appollo Starr, Nova, Reckless Youth, Gypsy Joe, Jaimy
Coxxx, Tarek the Great, Tommy Rodgers, Sid Vicious, Tommy Rich, Mad Man
Pondo, Drew Johnson
7. What is the best and worst thing about being a professional wrestler?
Best thing is being able to control every emotion in the building by your
actions, it does'nt get any better than that, to have the people on the
edge of their seats ready to see what you are going to do next, the worst
thing is the lack of time in wrestling that some of these {trainers} have,
I get sick of watching con artists use the wrestling name for their con,
taking money from guys who's only aspiration is to learn wrestling correctly.
8. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling
and Indy wrestling in general?
Wrestling has changed alot since I first started, this used to be a very
protected business, the guys took care of it because it was the way we
made money, now every Tom, Dick and Harry with Cargo pants, and combat
boots can be a wrestler, this is part of what has destroyed the industry,
wrestlers not keeping some of the doors closed to the public, and trying
to be friends and buddies with the fans, they are destroying their own
characters in the same process, it makes it nothing special to see this
person.
9. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Teaching, Martial Arts and Wrestling
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully Running a sucessful Martial Arts and Wrestling School
