Amy Vitale
In an attempt to bring you the best indy talent on the scene today,
as well as some names you may not be familiar with, WrestlingClothesline.com
is pleased to present 10 Questions With... Amy Vitale. Amy has been making
an impact on the Florida wrestling scene for quite some time and now it's
time for the reast of the world to learn a little more about her.
1. What made you decide to get involved in professional wrestling?
Just like mostly everybody that's involved in the business, I started
as a fan. Around the age 13-14 I started giving news and my opinions on
the wrestling world in newsletters and wrestling hotlines. By the time
I was 16, I started modeling. At that time, I was attending local independent
wrestling shows, not only enjoying the shows but inquiring on what I would
have to do to get back in the business. I went to a local independent
show in Miami called Sunshine Wrestling Federation and I spoke to the
promoter, Bill Brown, and was he was interested in using me. However,
I had to work my way up the ladder. I had to work concessions and work
as a ring girl, learning about all of the ins and outs of the business.
Shortly afterwards though, I was at ringside working as a manager/valet.
2. What promotions have you worked for? Do any stand out as your favorites
or least favorites?
You want a list of all the promotions I worked for?!? O.K. Let's see
if my memory does me justice. I have worked for Sunshine Wrestling Federation,
Florida Championship Wrestling, Future Of Wrestling, NWA-New York, Independent
Professional Wrestling Association, Coastal Championship Wrestling, Pro
Wrestling Warfare, Alliance Wrestling Force, ACW, Tampa All Pro, Florida
Extreme Wrestling, South East Wrestling Alliance, Sunray Pro Wrestling,
Maximum Xtreme Pro Wrestling, and AWA World-1.
The ones I currently work for are Division One Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling
Dynasty, M3W, Southern Championship Wrestling, UXW, and Florida Pro Wrestling
Association. I hope I have them all. If I accidentally forgot somebody,
I do apologize.
As far as any of one them standing out as my favorites and least favorites,
that's really hard for me to choose, as I have enjoyed working for all
of them.
3. At any point during your career, did you consider giving it up
for something else?
I did take a little break from wrestling for a few years to focus on
my modeling and college. Well, I have my degree and my modeling is going
well, so I'm back in it. You never know how much you miss it until you
are out of it.
4. What do you enjoy the most, and the least, about professional wrestling?
What I enjoy most is the people I work with, the fans, and my character.
What I least like about the wrestling business is the squabbling between
promoters and wrestlers. It's not everybody. Just a few, but it's either
the limelight they fight for, or a piece of the territory. It's really
sad, because I have seen friendships end because of it. Everybody has
to realize that we're in this all together, and are trying to bring back
wrestling to Florida, like it used to be when I was growing up. I miss
that. I just choose not to get involved in that sort of stuff. I more
like the peacemaker, but after all, this is the professional wrestling
business, and just like any other entertainment business whether it's
modeling, or Hollywood, there will always be a few negatives.
5.
As a woman in a predominantly male sport, are you ever treated differently
by promoters or wrestlers?
I have heard a few women say that they were treated differently, but,
I can certainly say that the promoters and wrestlers are very good to
me. Sure, the promoters all have different ideas of what angles they want
to do with you, but all of the promoters and I have this certain understanding,
and are very fair to me. I never had any brothers, so I consider the wrestlers
my brothers. They watch over me and protect me like a sister and expect
nothing in return. I am thankful to have that type of relationship with
the guys.
6. If you could do anything differently, or change aything about your
career, what (if anything) would it be?
I would have tried to fit wrestling in my busy schedule in my college
days. It would of made things a little bit easier. I mean, I already got
my name out there enough where some people still remembered me when I
came back, but it's just getting to know new people, having new fans that
don't know you, and having that little bit of ring rust. But, it didn't
take me too long. After six months, I was back in full swing.
7. Who are some of your favorite people to work with?
Every person that I have worked with has an unique personality which
keeps things from getting boring and making it an enjoyable working experience.
I love all my guys! They're awesome! However, my favorites are the Heartbreak
Express. They are one of the top tag teams here in Florida and they have
traveled not only in the United States, but overseas. They are very talented.
Francisco Ciatso is another one of my favorites that I enjoy working with.
He's hilarious and also very talented. He used to be in Deep South and
I think that WWE is missing out by not signing him. Jon Davis, who is
a rising star here in Florida. I definitely think he's going to go places.
And, Scott Commodity, who is a top indy star here in Florida and I'm sure
many people will agree with me on this, that I see a WWE contract soon
in his future.
8. What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
Being on television, on DVD's, and in magazines. I have been in 'Wrestling
World", "Fighting Females", 'Indy Divas", and etc.
It always makes a person feel real good when you accomplish these type
of thing. I mean, performing in front of a crowd is great, but being on
TV, DVD's, and in magazines makes things just a little bit better. :)
9. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to work out, spend time with family, friends, and my pets (three
cats and one dog), and if I have the opportunity, to check out a movie.
I like nature and I'm a big animal lover. I spend time observing and feeding
the ducks. I have a lake behind my house so iI get to see a lot of wildlife.
I also want to devote any free hours I have and volunteer at a animal
shelter.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I wish I could predict the future, but only the man upstairs knows for
sure what the future holds for you. I just hope in five years that I am
alive, healthy, and in a good position.
