Andre Lyonz
In an attempt to not only bring you interviews with some of
the best indy talent in the sport today, WrestlingClothesline.com continues
with our tradition of inteviewing the participants in the ECWA Super 8
Tournament. We stared off this year with Davey Richards. We followed that
up with the amazing Milano Collection AT!! Now WrestlingClothesline.com
presents 10 Questions With... Andre Lyonz!!
1. What made you decide to get involved in professional
wrestling?
The physicality of the sport is what really got me into it. The ability
to maneuver in the ring, on the ropes and even off the ropes seemed like
something I could do and enjoy.
2. Prior to being invited to participate in this year's Super 8 had
you heard about it? What were your thoughts regarding the tournament?
I found out about the tournament right around time I started training
and really getting into the business. It was introduced to me as one of
the most important tournaments in independent wrestling and I think nothing
less than exactly that.
3. You are a participant in this years' ECWA Super 8 Tournament. What
was your reaction when earning that spot in such a prestigious tournament?
I felt extremely proud to be invited into a tournament that so many amazing
talents have been a part of. Being in the Super 8 was one of my aspirations
starting out in the wrestling business, and I am very appreciative that
Jim Kettner has given me the opportunity to fulfill one of my many goals
in my wrestling career.
4. Any thoughts on how you'll prepare physically for three possible
matches in the Super 8?
It's difficult to prepare for three possible matches, especially when
they are against 7 of the greatest talents in the country. All you can
really do is train as hard as possible and try to get your mind ready
for a rough night.
5. What do you want people to think of when they hear your name?
I want people to think of someone who gave them their moneys worth. People
come to see us do what we do best and that is what I put forward everytime
I wrestle. At the end of the night, if they feel like I was worth coming
to see, then I know my best was good enough and now they know it too.
6. If you could step in the ring with or against anyone (alive or
dead) who would it be? Why?
Kurt Angle would be the opponent of my choice. I think he is one of the
most talented wrestlers of the present or the past. For someone to be
such a gifted athlete as to win in the Olympics and then have amazing
success in the wrestling business earns a ton of respect in my book.
7. How has the wrestling business changed since you started? Has it
changed for the better or worse?
The wrestling business has changed a lot in the four years that I have
been wrestling. Sometimes it seems like it has changed for the worse,
but all changes seem weird and unfamiliar until they pan out, so I guess
I will just have to see where the business stands after another four years
have passed before I can pass judgement.
8. What is the best thing you've been a part of, or even not been
a part of, in the wrestling business?
I haven't fully been a part of it yet, but I would have to say this year's
10th Annual Super 8. Being part of the Super 8 is probably my biggest
achievement in wrestling so far and hopefully it will lead even greater
things.
9. What has been your most memorable moment so far as a wrestler?
It may not exactly be a pleasant memory, but I would have to say when
I tore my ACL 6 months into training. It was a hard time, but it reminds
me of the risks that come with being a wrestler and it makes me realize
how much I must love being a part of this great business to be willing
to take those risks.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I can't really say for sure, but I hope it will be near a wrestling ring.
