The opinions below are those of Anthony Lora and do NOT necessarily reflect the opinion of Brett Schwan or any other member of the Clothesline Crew. Anthony's Asylum Welcome back! fellow indy wrestling fans to the return of "Anthony's Asylum." Yes, I'll admit, I have been a bit inactive in terms of carriyng my columnist duties but unfortunately for the past 2 weeks I could not find the time to write a column. Getting back to the subject at hand, wrestling, in this edition of Anthony's Asylum I will be discussing my top 3 indy wrestling promotions that I feel have the potential of going national. Coming in at #3, CSWF! (Cyberspace Wrestling Federation) Why? well for starters, this promotion seems to have a fairly decent budget showcasing talent that many of are aquainted with from wrestling's newest alternate, NWA-TNA. Although some may criticize this promotion for its lack of consistency, this promotion still has some minor growing pains to overcome before being possible candidate for NWA-TNA developmental territory. Ranking #2 on my list, Jersey All-Pro wrestling!(JAPW) the longest running fed in my list and for a reason. Back when ECW was alive and well, this promotion could have easily been theyre brother company. Whenever you attend a JAPW event one can not help but feel the spirit of ECW rise from the dead. From the great wrestling action, to the vociferous crowd response that they draw, this fed is without a doubt ECW's reincarnation. Finally, Ranking #1 on my list of indy promotions with potential for national expansion, Ring OF Honor! (ROH) This fed is indeed the total package, it has all the elements necessary to achieve national expansion: good budget, star-power, ("workers") steady fan base, and even controversy! ( SEE: Wrestling clothesline's past article on that matter). More importantly, the reason why I feel ROH has a great chance of going national is because the the entire fed is an orginal concept. This fed markets itself in a way that the fan or non-fan can appreciate the actual art of the business rather than the sillyness. On another note, a few minutes ago I got off the phone with Chris Ford a.k.a Crowbar, he seems interested in getting some T-shirts printed for the Headlock on Hunger show which will take place on Nov. 27th at St. Mary's High School in East Rutherford, NJ. Fans, feel free (literally speaking) to attend this event since admission to this show is just a matter of bringing in a can of food and you're in! That wraps it up for this edition of Anthony's Asylum, till next time! On another note, in case any of you are wondering I am part owner of ALLClear Inc. a printing shop where we design T-shirts, Business Cards, Logos, Flyers, Posters, Banners, and other promotional items. If anyone is interested in getting any design work (wrestlers especially) you can email me at: creamtpf@aol.com |
