AWR France Wrestling Tour: Bordeaux
The Tour Of the Missing Sharpies…
Day 3 - Bordeaux: I would soon find out that my eyes popping wide-awake
at 2:30 - 4 am would continue throughout the entire tour.
I met everyone without makeup on at breakfast, when I walked in on Sylvan
Grenier telling an entertaining story about how his favorite tag team
partner has always been Rob Conway. (Conway was not his partner for this
tour. Rene was.)
After breakfast, the rain let up enough so I could go exploring. It led
me to a huge shopping center where I was able to find most things on my
“Hey, since you’re going to France, can you bring me this back…”
list. I was accosted by two creeptastic mimes as I left the store. Um…seriously,
get the f*ck away from me before I punch you just to hear you grunt.
When you desperately need someone to speak English, they’re never around. But when you want someone to NOT speak English - such as the pedo looking dude walking by undressing you with his eyes - naturally, his English is perfect. That said, where are these guys when you need them in the airport? Pervs must be like cops…never there when you need ‘em.
When I got back my Portuguese opponent, Shanna, had arrived. I’d left the room in careful order, so as to respect the common space. She didn’t. Stuff was thrown all over - and would remain so for the rest of the tour.
And she’d shut the damn window. I’d had to call down to the front desk & beg three times to have it opened. Other than her always being cold, and her constant night and day showering (making it harder for me to get in there), she seemed lovely. Her English was good, her French even better, and she was pretty. Unlike some, I actually prefer to work with pretty female wrestlers, since it guarantees better audience attention. She told me she spoke 4 languages, was a night person, had named her cat Tommy Dreamer and was a computer geek like me. I had a feeling we would get along well. Just as soon as I reopened that window.
First night of the tour and it started off with Sylan screaming at Rene. Awesome! He’s a such a ...(censored…www.aprilhunter.com) Bob Holly almost killed ...(censored…www.aprilhunter.com) and Waltman sh*t in Rene’s cowboy hat last tour.
I was in a mixed tag that night with Chris “Bambi Killer” Raaber vs. Shanna & Paul Tracey. I wish I’d gotten it taped, because Paul was able to take a lot of my bigger moves and submissions that I haven’t used in ages, beautifully.
Post show, we set up to sign photos, posters, foam fingers, breasts and anything else fans wanted signed…except no one thought to bring a sharpie. I had ONE…which everyone kept borrowing. You’d think that the guys would have gone out to pick up a package of pens during, say, a beer run or something, but no. In fact, no one bothered to get sharpies for the entire two weeks.

Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end.
He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.
Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she, immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.
When she went to tell Edna the news she said, “Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.”
“The bad news is, Ralph hanged himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.”
Edna replied, “He didn't hang himself. I put him up there to dry.... How soon can I go home?
