Ariel

The last time we interviewed Ariel was in early 2003. Since then, she has gone on to wrestle internationally as she makes a name for herself as one of the top women wrestlers on the indy scene. Ariel was kind enough to catch us up on her career in this new interview

1.) So what's new since the Clothesline last talked with you 2 years ago (LOL)?

Ok ok.. what's new.. Well, I'm older, wiser, stronger...well, I think so anyway. Things have gotten better I must say. I have been wrestling for about 4 years now. I am 20 years old now and my hair color has changed a bunch of times since I started... I also travelled internationally and I debuted in a bunch of federations so that's always good.

2.) What would you change right now, if you could, about your career?

Honestly, if I changed things, I wouldn't be who I am today. and I wouldn't know what I know now. The only thing I guess I can say is, not trusting everyone all the time because I have a tendency to do that.. I trust the wrong people then I get hurt in the end. But like I said, those experiences made me who I am now... so I guess I wouldn't change anything. Just keep on going.

3.) What is it like balancing your "real life" with your "wrestling life?

As most people know, its hard balancing both but for me, wrestling is all I do besides work and being home. If I'm not working or at a home, I'm most likely at a wrestling show. That's just how it has been for about 3 years consecutively. I mean, its not that hard to balance because I have been able to keep it up. I have missed many family get togethers due to wrestling and you pretty much have no free time but you try your best to juggle the two. I think I'm doing ok so far.

4.) How do you think the state of women's wrestling has changed (if it has at all) since you began wrestling?

Wrestling has gone through this weird change from less athleticisim to more TNA..which I didnt think would happen. I thought we would be moving forward not backwards but most girls on the indies are trying their hardest to make wrestling not all about looks and what not. With all the Diva Searches and models turned wrestlers, girls on the indies can only hope for the time wrestling will go back to being about the ability.

5.) You have recently worked in Mexico. Could you update us on what you have done down there? For what fed? How was the overall experience?

I have been goign to Mexico for almost a year now.. Been down there 3 times now. First time for 2 weeks and a half, second for a month, and third for 6 weeks. I went down there and worked with LLF and LLF works with different arenas and what not. I worked with many legends and it was unreal. Learning the mexican wrestling is tough but with training and stuff you get kind of used to it. The overall experience is unreal. I love going to Mexico. Reminds me of Portugal. And Wrestling..Well, its unreal and everything is different. I am hoping to be back very soon.

6.) Other than Mexico, where have you been wrestling recently?

Recently, Been working a lot in New England again, which hadn't happenned since I left my original home fed. Been working for WFA ( Wrestling Federation of America), CCW ( CT Championship Wrestling), PWF (Premier Wrestling Federation) and as usual UWA ( United Wrestling Aliance).

7.) What's the best trend in wrestling today? How about the worst?

Well, I'll be honest.. I wasnt sure what this question meant.. BUT anyway I will go by my instinct and just guess that its just something people do alot...so yea Best Trend...I would have to say the lil bears dressed up like wrestlers. I have the Rey one and its the bestest. Worst Trend.. hmm the fact that Divas are being hired left and right while legit wrestlers are getting fired. So the trend is using girls as eye candy again.

8.) What wrestler do you make a special point to see when you're not wrestling? Why?

I can't pick just one. I like way too many people. I am a fan of wrestling and with wrestling there are different styles and what not..so for different styles I like different people. Can't pick just one.

9.) If you could only name 5... Who would be your top 5 people you have stepped into the ring with or against?

Top 5... That's hard...I have wrestled against so many good girls.. hmmmm.. ok 5 in no particular order.

Nikki Roxx is definitely one of them. She is one of the best technical wrestlers ever.. I am glad people are noticing her more and more.

April Hunter - What can be said about April that hasn't been said before. Very Talented

Etsuko Mita - Was totally an honor to wrestle against her. Awesome wrestler.

Tsunami - Even though very new to the business, is a very very talented young girl. We had some amazing matches together in Mexico.

Dawn Marie - even though I only wrestled her twice, I learned sooo much in those 2 days. It was crazy.

10.) Where can fans learn more about you?

Fans can learn more about me.. from my website www.arielsworld.com, or my livejournal which is linked through my website. Also you can check out my yahoo group www.groups.yahoo.com/group/arielsworld
