The Ballard Brothers 1. What made you decide to become professional wrestlers? 1. We have always been big wrestling fans. Growing up, our father used to hang out with one of the destroyers and when he would come over to our house, he was so big that it would scare the both of us (we were little kids at the time). Then we would watch him on t.v. and we would be in awe. Later on, after injuries ended our hockey careers(we were both drafted to play Junior A hockey in Canada) we needed an outlet and saw a local indy wrestling show on public access and we decided to give pro wrestling a try. We did amatuer wrestling in high school, so we had a good idea of what to expect. 2. Who trained you? How did you go about finding them as trainers? When was your first pro match? 2. Alex Knight was our first trainer. We contacted him through the local indy show we saw on t.v., I called the city of Maywood and they gave me his number. We couldnt afford a wrestling school, so Alex was nice enough to train us for free, we just had to set up and tear the ring down after every practice. Our first pro match was 3 weeks into our training, and we wrestled each other so we just basically really went out there and beat each other up.I wrestled under the name Rhino and Shane was Ravage. 3. You work mostly on the west coast. Who was the first promotion
to bring you to the east coast to wrestle? Do you see any difference between
the west coast and east coast fans or promotions in general? 4. What has been the highlight of your careers thus far? 4. So far, I would have to say wrestling in Japan for Zero-One. It was
such a great experience. Wrestling the Hardy Boyz has to be one the highlights
as well. 5. We hed just arrived in Baltimore for the PCW tournament, and Cheerleader Melissa was with us. We had just got all of our luggage and were getting ready to walk out to get our rental car. Melissa was ahead of me carrying our hockey sticks(our gimmick is hockey players) and she stopped for some reason and I didnt see her and I low blowed myself so hard I just dropped in the middle of the airport. A crowd ran over to see what had happened, they thought me and Melissa got into a fight and she kicked me. It wasnt funny at the time, but now I can laugh about it! 6. What tag teams do you enjoy watching in action? What teams do you like stepping into the ring with? 6. The tag teams we most admire would have to be the Midnight Express (original with Loverboy Dennis). Those guys were ahead of their time. Also we like the Rock-n-Roll Express. It was fun watching the Mulkeys get beat up every week. Our favorite teams to wrestle are: SATs, Backseat Boys, Holy Rollers, and York and Mathews. We would like to wrestle the Brisco Brothers. Oh, and the Bushwackers are always a treat to wrestle. 7. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling? 7. I think wrestling needs competition. There needs to be 1 or 2 more big feds. Otherwise, it gets stale. 8. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? 8. We are big College Football fans, we collect jerseys and Hats whenever we are in a college town. We also try to catch a game here and there. We also are big Anime fans, mostly of DragonBallZ. We both just got Playstation2 and play Grand theft Auto a lot in our spare time, which we dont get too much of. 9. Of all the promotions you have worked for, which have been your favorites? Any least favorites? 9. Pretty much every promotion has been good to us, so I cant really name favorites. Anytime you can get paid for doing something you love doing you have to be grateful for, which we are, and we thank every promotion who has and will use us. 10. Where do you see yourselves in 5 years? 10. In 5 years, hopefully we will have wrestled the Bushwackers at least
500 times(we are pretty close now ;) but hopefully, in 5 years we will
be in a top promotion and not having to work a regular job with it. |
