Ten Questions With . . .

Dan Barry

1. Where did you get your training? How did you decide upon them as your trainers?

I was Trained at Critical Mass Pro Wrestling In Hicksville, NY by John Curse, and Mike Mayhem. The man who I owe my wrestling dreams to is "The Sure Thing" John Shane. He is a family friend who I looked up to as a kid and now wrestle shows with him. I asked him about Critical Mass and he told me the trainers were good people. And seeing as it was 10 mins away, I figured I should go for it. I still currently train there and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to start a wrestling career.

2. What promotions do you currently work for? What other promotions have you worked for?

I currently work for the NYWC, USApro, and JCW. I have also worked SSCW, WWW, LICW, and QWA. I used to wrestle for the NAPW which was the wrestling federation in which I took on a gang of "My Pet Monsters" on my trampoline. I always booked myself to win..... Let's not talk about that.

3. What do you like most about the wrestling business? What do you like the least?

What I like the most is the atmosphere. Just basically walking into a building and getting the high you feel knowing youre about to perform in front of hundreds of people. The people are great too. I havent really met anyone I didn't like (except Johnny Ova's Ego... inside joke). Sometimes alot of stupid things happen, but hey thats life.

4. You had a phenomenal match with Johnny Ova at the debut NYWC Rampage show in Deer Park. You were then booked for a rematch at their next show. Was there a lot of pressure on you to try and outdo what you did in the first match? How do you handle such pressure if there is any?

There is always a lot of pressure in this business. You can be the best thing since sliced bread one minute and be gone the next. So of course we had to step it up a notch. We went into the first match with the mentality of, "well we arenty gonna wrestle eachother for a long time so let's make this one nuts". Then of course that changed and we realized it wouldn't be a walk in the park. We were both beat up after the first one, and the second one was just as, if not more painful. We put our asses on the line, and pulled off things we had never seen done before, but in the end, all the pain was well worth it because the rush we felt when 300 people were chanting our names. Its a great feeling. John is a great guy so i would love to have another match with him (so long as i dont take anymore ghetto blasters to the back of the head.)

5. What do you think of the current lightweights and cruiserweights on the indy scene? Do you feel they get the credit and pushes they deserve? Are you ever looked at as being too small to get a push or does your actual in ring ability allow you to get the pushes you deserve.

I do not think that lightweights are under pushed. I think most of the time the lightweights make their own little niche on the show. Sure there are those guys that tell absolutely no story during their match and just simply do crazy moves that half the time are botched. But a lot of the time, its the smaller guys who have the best matches of the night. Your size does not determine your wrestling ability.

6. What has been the highlight of your wrestling career thus far?

There are 2. My first one was winning the NYWC lightweight championship in the debut show, and the 2nd, was wrestling in the Elks lodge. I loved ECW and always wanted to wrestle in the Elks Lodge. Next in line is Nassau Coliseum. lol

7. When you are not wrestling, what do you like to do?

I'm starting to get involved in the whole "working out" thing. I usually just do cardio. I go bowling. I'm not very good but hey. Now that i've relocated to Bellmore i find it very hard to find anything fun to do.

8. Who are your favorite people to wrestle against? Who are your favorites to watch?

I like wrestling Johnny Ova and his ego. lol I feel He and I have great chemistry. And The Playboy Maxmilyin. He is hilarious and normally through our matches we quote movies or songs rather than wrestling.. We drink too. I love getting the opportunity to wrestle new people, i just worked with Wayne and Azrael in USApro and had a lot of fun. I like to learn new things from everyone I wrestle so as to improve my in-ring ability.

9. What do you think of the current state of pro wrestling? Does the WWE being the only "mainstream" alternative at the moment help or hurt the indy scene?

I think that wrestling needs a kick in the ass and I think that they need Funaki leading the ship... I dont know much about the WWE because i rarely actually watch it. I think that since the wwe is the only mainstream promotion, that the indys are getting a larger fan base, because people get tired of the same people. And fans love being able to say "i knew him when he was nothing"

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Probably still in nassau community college. For some reason I can't leave that damn place! I hope to be wrestling still. Not so much in the WWE but still all around, maybe ill have a job. Im only 20 now so I dont want a wife and kids yet... I hate kids
