1. What made you ever decide to get involved in professional
wrestling?
I grew up watching the sport and fell in love with it. In high school
I was a strong competitor in sports such as football, powerlifting, and
amateur wrestling, but in the back of my mind I knew professional wrestling
is something Ive always wanted to do. When I graduated I had the
opportunity to either play college ball or train to be a professional
wrestler and Im happy that I chose the latter.
2. What was your training regimen like? Who trained you? How did you
go about finding them?
I was broken into the business by a group of wrestlers that had a school
about 3 miles from my home in Crandall, TX. The majority of these guys
had little knowledge of how to work and actual match, but me being the
new green kid, how was I to know. Luckily for me I was blessed with a
decent look and some athletic ability that allowed me to get noticed by
other promotions that had some guys that I could train with a learn a
lot from. Now, I continue to train a few days a week with Manny Fernandez
who definitely knows his way around a wrestling ring. As far as my weight
room training goes, Im lifting 4 to 5 days out of the week usually
with myself or with my father who was my powerlifting coach in high school.
3. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling?
Well, I hear stories from Manny about the days of the territories and
how they used to have to turn thousands of people away at packed shows
and bring in a very nice chunk of change at every show they worked. Now,
there are not too many independent guys that can make a living off of
this business and I dont know of too many promotions out there turning
their fans away at the doors. I havent been in the business long
enough to be able to place blame on anything for this so all I can to
is just bust my butt and hope for the best.
4. Who have been your favorite people to step into the ring with or
against? Why?
Anytime I get in the ring with Manny we have a good match that gets the
crowds up on there feet. Other guys that I like working from Texas would
be Eddie Craven, Mike Foxx, and BJ Turner. All those guys are great athletes
and have the ability to make each other look better. I also have worked
guys like Matt Stryker who is a great pure wrestler and Matt Sydel who
can fly around with the best of them.
5. What is the best thing about being a pro wrestler? What is the
worst?
The best thing would have to be the rush that you get when
you step through the curtain knowing youre about to display your
athletic abilities for people who love watching the sport. Its the
only feeling that can replace the feeling of playing under the Friday
night lights. The worst thing would have to be all the driving on the
road especially the way the gas prices are right now.
6. What wrestlers do you enjoy watching?
I enjoy watching guys like Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, and Paul London.
7. What do you enjoy doing when you are not wrestling?
I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Natalie. I also enjoy other
sports like softball, paintball, golf and flag football, but most of the
time I just like to relax and hang out with my best friends.
8. What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
The major highlights of my career have yet to take place. But some of
the highlights thus far would consist of beating Action Jackson for the
heavy weight belt at the promotion in Denton, TX, XCW. Also, I am currently
feuding with Eddie Craven and any of our matches would have to be highlights
along with any of my matches with Manny Fernandez.
9. If you had to do it all over again is there anything you would
change?
As of right now, no, there is nothing I would change. But Ive still
been in the business a short time compared to many others and that answer
may change in a few years, but I hope not.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself making a good living off of this
business and if that means WWE, great, and if it means another promotion
then thats great too.
