WSU Women’s J-Cup 2010 – April 2, 2010 – Shark River Firehouse, Neptune, NJ
DVD Review

The DVD opens up with the introduction of all eight tournament participants which ended up with an altercation between Angel Orsini and Nikki Roxx (to hype their first round matchup).

First Round:

Alicia defeated Tina San Antonio in an easy, uneventful, match. San Antonio is very green but Alicia made a match out of it.

Brittney Savage defeated Marti Belle. Brittney originally wanted a bye into the next round because her scheduled opponent did not show up. She was told she would have to wrestle a replacement. Two very green workers in one match? I guess it could be worse?

Jazz defeated Jana. Jana started off by saying she will take out anyone who gets in her way. Jazz called the tournament the Jazz-Cup and said Jana would serve as an example to show everyone why Jazz is the Fighting Female Phenom. Jazz ended up with the win but both women came off looking good.

Angel Orsini defeated Nikki Roxx in the only real noteworthy match of the first round. Roxxi stated that she started in with Angel, during the introductions, as revenge for Angel taking the WSU title from her two years ago. Talk about holding a grudge! The two women put on a great match with some great wrestling and straight up fighting along the way. Nikki as a heel is very odd to watch since she seems to be the face in 90% of her matches. Great match which ended with Orsini getting the win, setting up Angel v Jazz in the semis.

Second Round:

Alicia defeated Brittney Savage. The WSU feud between these two women has been going on for quite some time. Thankfully, Alicia can hold her own as a wrestler and can make pretty much anyone look good in the ring. Alicia with the win to head to the finals.

Angel Orsini defeated Jazz in a good match. Angel hurt her arm in her first round match. Would that hinder her in a match against someone the caliber of Jazz? Evidentially not. After the match, Angel and Jazz hugged. The match was quite short and would have been a show stealer had it gone a little longer.

WSU Championship Match:

Mercedes Martinez defeated Amber O’Neal. Mercedes stated that she won the J-Cup two years ago and it led to her winning the WSU Championship. She went on to tell Amber that her winning streak was going to end tonight. Amber said that she always has a plan and promised that she would leave with the title and a 7-0 record. Amber battled hard and came close to scoring a pinfall. However, Martinez was able to recover and hit the Fisherman Suplex to retain her title.

J-Cup Final:

Alicia defeated Angel Orsini to win the 2010 WSU J-Cup. The match started out clean but both women soon battled outside of the ring and around the building. Both women showed a lot and left nothing in the locker room. Alicia was able to hit an A-Bomb on Angel for the pinfall and the victory. Mercedes came out to congratulate Alicia and reminded her that it could lead her to the WSU Championship. Mercedez then plugged the title match between Alicia and herself on June 26. The two women shook hands.

Overall, the show had a few solid matches. The only standout from the first round was Nikki v Angel. The overabundance of greenery was a little too much for my liking. The second round picked up a bit and the final match was very good.
