It saddens me to see that the wrestling business is no different overseas
than it is hear. Full of scum and promoters who just want to pass the
blame. Peter, I'm behind you 100%! - Brett
And welcome ladies and gentlemen (all three of you, right
Bobby?), to the latest installment of my column - where cynicism is taken
as natural; and there's a sense of egotism far beyond vanity. But hey,
you love me for it.....
Sometimes, you really wonder what this world is coming to. They say wrestling
is supposed to be a release from the 'real' world...that it's entertainment.
That you're not meant to take it too seriously. I say.....well, actually
what I say, isn't repeatable on the kind of websites that are printing
this. Without further ado, let's get onto what I would imagine every column
writer on the internet is doing right now - cursing out Vince McMahon
for letting go the talented, and keeping the utterly worthless.
MATT HARDY : So, according to McMahon logic; it's the injured and innocent
party who should be released from their job? Right. That makes sense.....
It's been said, it's been done - but not a bad word has come out at ALL
about Matt Hardy during this whole Lita/Edge/Matt debacle. Edge has been
the darling golden boy of the WWE management for years now, and this proves
it. You have to wonder if they'd even have kept him if he'd done the evil
deed with Steph....they think he's money. Unless you consider this whole
episode a great new way to get heat, Edge is now tainted goods character
wise for a long time. This isn't wrestling heat, this is legitimate heat
- fans really think he's what they say he is. Matt Hardy deserves a damn
sight better than this.
RHYNO : Not that they ever knew what to do with Rhyno anyway, but this
doesn't make much sense either really. You can behave like Edge and Lita,
and stay employed; and yet you can smash a plant pot in a bad mood and
get released from your job. McMahon logic, again. Both he and Matt Hardy
can now find work elsewhere, where the lights might not be quite as bright;
but at least it won't be quite as hypocritical.
PAUL BEARER : And as ever, old school isn't respected either. They didn't
HAVE to kill off the character. Writers with half a clue could have done
far better. And now they let him go... As usual, half assed writing costs
the viewer of another likeable and enjoyable wrestling personality being
on the main and most viewed wrestling (and I use that term loosely) programming
in the world.
MOLLY HOLLY : Now this really IS stupidity. Letting go the most talented
(and best looking) female on the roster? Just to free up a few pounds
and dollars to do another worthless waste of everyone's life Diva Search?
Well done Vince. You've just turned anyone who ever tolerated a half baked
women's scene right OFF of it, by releasing the only female worker that
was ever worth watching. Now you can carry on with your pointless bimbo's
and worthless stereotyping of women's wrestling, that offends any female
wrestler who has ever struggled and worked damn hard to learn the ropes.
HULK HOGAN : I can't say anything even remotely polite about his being
on the roster, however temporary it might work out to be. I never liked
him in his prime, to be honest; I was a Ric Flair fan. I never saw how
a four move wonder who didn't sell anything was so appealing to people.
And he's given another go around, before the talent mentioned above? Please.
I'm going to stop on this point, because much as I'm very old school and
love the legends of this business; I don't want to get sued for my thoughts
on Hulk Hogan. With his attitude, his ego; his almighty self serving selfishness
over the years.....hang on, am I talking about him or Vince McMahon?
This column has gone full circle. I'm now off to take a walk into the
Twilight Zone.....'do do doo do, do do doo do'........
