So it's a time of weird and wonderful happenings for your
'Internet Icon'......
On Saturday (the 19th of August), I take a trip to a certain wrestling
promotion from my past. I don't plan to name names, but I think it's pretty
obvious what current UK promotion I have a well known past with that no-one
ever thought I'd go up to see. But I'm really looking forward to going
up there and meeting certain people, and even the road trip is going to
be pretty wild considering who I'm taking with me!
On Friday (the 15th of September), I'm doing the one thing I swore I would
never EVER do. I'm getting in the ring. So, for EAW (www.eawrestling.co.uk),
their champion Lionheart will be facing, in a two on one handicap match;
Nero....and Petey! Yes, I'm going to be wrestling. You don't want to miss
this one because it's rather doubtful I'll ever do it again - at time
of writing this will be a very one off incident. Visit EAW's website for
details on how to buy the dvd releases from past and current shows, and
watch me at what I've been reliably told (hey, I'm not going to doubt
my missus!) is me at my most arrogant best!
Recently, I've been busy what with three bookings a month (ACW, EAW, and
BRAWL), so I've been a bit too busy to write that much, but as ever my
website is updated as much as I can so keep checking by at www.peterstaniforth.co.uk
for all the latest about what I'm up to.
In other random bits and pieces, as my mind is here, there, and everywhere
these days....
Why is everyone complaining about DX? I find Michaels's facial expressions
and mannerisms priceless, and I know a good few 40 or so year old men
who still behave in that degenerate way, it's just HBK and HHH get paid
well to do it! Guys, chill out, stop over analysing and following the
sheep and just switch your brain off and laugh like a teenager (we all
have one inside us, especially us men!)......
Makes me sick to see Umaga's big push, when all he is, is a complete ripoff
of my good friend Mana. Classic WWE, rip an indy worker's character off
without so much as a word and even less respect......
ECW? Everyone's complaining about ECW. I suppose it's because they teased
us twice on PPV with shows that weren't too bad at all and seemed to still
have enough bingo hall spirit to keep even the most serious ECW fan (like
myself) interested enough. The tv show? Well, I want to believe in it
and that it'll finally work itself out in time to a point where it's not
that bad (we all know that it wont ever be that realistic of the old product,
we just need to accept that and get over it I think), but with WWE having
the final say I guess I'll just keep an eye on it, watch it but not truly
care that much; and just stick with my old ECW tapes from 1993 to 1996
which I love so much........
TNA is on fire.....literally! Well, that's an incident I never thought
I'd hear about but it sounds like they handled it well, and although there's
certain things about TNA that don't appeal to me one bit (Sting, Scott
Steiner), there's always the likes of Petey Williams and Matt Bentley
(as two examples) for me to mark out for like a kid. TNA are a wonderful
alternative to WWE, and are keeping up the constant positive progressing.
Philly is getting interesting....PWU shows are stacked, CZW seem to be
going back to their roots, new promotions pop up here and there with potential;
and it's still the best place to keep an eye on what's going on!....
And that's that, I'm out. As ever, thanks for reading the UK's best manager
and journalist's views (but unlike some, my ego is inflatable), and remember
that 'I'm better than you....because I'm from Luton'!
