10 Questions With...

It's only taken a short time for Jessie McKay to become one of the most popular female wrestlers in her home country of Australia. And no wonder. After a successful tour of the US, WrestlingClothesline.com felt it was only time to present to you... 10 Questions With... Jesse McKay!

1. What made you decide to become a professional wrestler?

1. I started watching wrestling on tv when i was about 11 years old, as my brother and his friends would crowd my lounge room watching all the PPV's and one day i made a sign sayin jericho 3:16, having know idea what i had just written, my brother grabbed me and sat me down infront of the tv and i've been hooked ever since!

2. How did you go about finding someone to train with? What was the training process like?

2. I was fortunate enough to find my brother's friend and wife, who owned their own promotion and training academy, so i contacted him when i was 17 and i've been there ever since. After the first day of training, i couldn't walk for 3 days, i was so sore everywhere! They trained very hard and intense but i loved it!

3. Being a woman in a predominately male sport, are you ever treated differently by wrestlers or promoters?

3. I'm never treated differently by promoters but some people in the wrestling business do think that female wrestlers aren't proper wrestlers which is absoloutley wrong! Though, there are the girls who wrestle in mud and skimpy bikini's, and there is nothing wrong with that, but a lot of female wrestlers, hit just as hard and work just as hard as male wrestlers.

4. What do you enjoy most about being a professional wrestler? What do you like least about the sport?

4. I love the adrenaline when i step out behind the curtain, it's the most incredible feeling and nothing matches it. It's such a rush to perform infront of a crowd!
The only thing i dislike is the drama attached to it, sometimes i feel like i'm back in high school!

5. What do you think of the current state of pro wrestling, in particular women's wrestling?

5. I think the women's side of wrestling is amazing at the moment, we are seeing so much more it and i think it's great! So many more promotions are having more than just one female match on their shows and it's awesome.

6. What has been the highlight of your career thus far?

6. My highlight of my career so far, would of been winning my first title, the PWWA Championship from Kellie Skater in 2008 IN Sydney! It was a hard hitting match, but in the end, i came over victorious!

7. What have been some of the promotions you have worked for? Do you have any favorites?

7. I have been fortunate enough to work for some amazing companies in the U.S, which include ROH, CHIKARA, SHIMMER and CZW. I've learnt so much from the people over there and i love it, though my favourite would have to be SHIMMER, as it's an all women's promotion, it gives a chance for women wrestlers to really get themselves out there, everyone is very welcome and it's just a lot of fun!

8. What wrestlers in the sport do you try to emulate or do you enjoy watching?

8. My absoloute favourite wrestler HAS to be The Rock! Growing up and watching was amazing, the way he performed in the ring and the way he talked on the mic, and he was a toal hottie!! Female wrestler, i would have to say Stacy Kiebler, just as she has long legs like me and i always like watching ways she can tangle people up with them!

9. When you aren't wrestling, what do you enjoy doing?

9. When i'm not wrestling, i love to play basketball. i've been playing since i was 6 and i still love the game. I also like to shop, a lot! Just like any other girl, and most of all, spend time with my friends and family.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

10. I would like to see myself in the TNA or WWE in 5 years, that's my ultimate dream and i believe that if i train hard enough, i can get there. I think i would have a lot to offer.
