Review of BWO Show, Saturday, November 15, 2003
by Lawrence Kleber

I have never attended a poor BWO show. Richie Rotten and company always
give the fans compact, fast moving and exciting matches of all varieties.
The intimate VFW venue in Garfield, New Jersey also helps. It is tiny
and comfortable and holds about 100 fans. There will be one more BWO
show in December at the VFW Building. Richie and his cohorts will
probably to moving to larger spaces. This show marked (pardon the pun)
not only my one year anniversary as a BWO fan, but also the one year
anniversary of the formation of Verbal Abuse, Tommy Hunter and Rob Payes.
These two ringside fans have added spice to BWO shows for the past year.
Rob, of course, is the excellent photographer behind Stiff Shots.

With over 100 fans in attendance, the card began with owner Glen saluting
our recently lost soldiers and wrestlers. The spot concluded with Hunter
having words with Tommy Face.

Match 1 Battle Royals are always difficult to do effectively, but BWO
really tries. When the two remaining combatants were Section 8 and
Rebecca Pain, the gentlemanly Section 8 hopped over the ropes to give the
win to Rebecca. No wonder he’s the number one face in the organization!

Match 2 In a humorous content, Archadia pinned Tek with a power bomb.
At the start of the match, Archadia, playing a somewhat gay character,
checked Joe the Ref for foreign objects! The crazy Joe kept screaming,
“I don’t know if you can do that!” to the grapplers. Even though there
were a number of missed spots, this was an entertaining match and
Archadia ended up in my lap! What a character!

Match 3 For the light heavyweight championship, Chino Martinez, with
Rebecca Pain, pinned Jason Stag after a superkick to retain his strap.
Jason later brought Rebecca into the ring to dish out some punishment.
During the match, Hunter taunted Rebecca with, “You gave him Herpes. I
saw you at the free clinic”. It would be negligent of me not to mention
that Chino is one of the top guys on the indy circuit today.

Match 4 The hilarious Buzz Bentley pinned Chris Stiles in a fast
moving match.

Match 5 In a continuation of an angle from the last show, Brian
Beeker and Section 8 took on Canadian brothers New Wave and Big Dan. New
Wave taunted Beeker: “I taught you everything you know!” Then he went
after the fans: “If you don’t shut up, we’re leaving. You want us to
leave, so we’re staying.” He gave Beeker one last chance to join the
Canadian team, but Beeker responed, “I was born in Sayreville, New Jersey
and I am no longer representing Canada.” The match featured a nice neck
breaker by Brian on New Wave from the ropes. When the large Dan fell out
of the ring, Verbal Abuse fell out of their seats, as if an earthquake
had just hit! Finally Beeker pinned New Wave. As Dan was comforting New
Wave, Tommy Hunter shouted, “Get a room!”

A promo followed where owner Glen, with Tommy Face and Joey the Bull,
called out Richie Rotten to demand that the absent Jack Brodie put his
title on the line against Joey the Bull. As mature Rich would try to
speak, 13-year-old Glen shouted, “Shut up, Junior!” It was decided that
a member of the Badd Corporation would face Joey for the title.

Match 6 The usually stoic Dan the Man was pinned by Jerk Off after
Jerk reversed a sleeper. After the match, Dan went nuts and beat up
Jerk, as well as his brothers, Jack, Whack, and Beat.

Match 7 The dastardly Roach, aka Corvis Fear, took on the up and
coming Rush. Roach executed a reverse pile driver and asked to crowd,
“Every cripple anybody? This will do it!” Rush kicked out and Roach
tried again. This time Rush reversed the hold. Later in the match, Rush
did his own pile driver on Roach. After two Rush superkicks, Roach was
on the floor. Rush did a suicide dive from the top rope. It seemed
Roach was really hurt. He was taken back to the dressing room by
security and Rush told the fans that he was sorry. Just then, Roach came
back and executed a frog splash off the top. Rush did pick up the
pinfall. At the conclusion of the match, a senior citizen from the crowd
tried to get a piece of Roach. This gentleman turned out to be Rush’s
grandfather! This was the best Rush match I have seen yet.

Match 8 The masked Suzuki made C. K. Concrete submit. This Suzuki
reminds me of some wrestler I know, but I cannot put my finger on who it
is. During the match, there was an excellent drop kick by the over 300
pound Suzuki. At the beginning of the match, Rob Payes “borrowed”
Concrete’s hat. At the conclusion, when Concrete recovered his hat,
Hunter retorted, “Enjoy a new case of head lice!”

Match 9 Vincent Valentine, who had been in the battle royal,
interrupted to complain about losing to a woman. Rebecca Pain and Chino
Martinez appeared for an impromptu match. Following an early DDT,
Rebecca pinned Vincent. Of course, Chino was holding his legs, and after
the match Chino beat on him fairly well.

Match 10 Following intermission, Richie Rotten, with Big Daddy Badd,
took on Chaos in a hard core revenge match. With all of the kitchen
hardware in the ring, Tommy Hunter called it an “E Z Bake Oven” match.
This crazy match featured lots of action outside of the ring. The
wrestlers did a bit of jousting with Richie using a car hood and Chaos
using a road sign! At one point, Richie continuously stomped on Chaos
who was under both the hood and the sign. After two DDTs using the hood
and sign, Rich pinned Chaos.

Match 11 Gavin Quest pinned Sean Martin, making his BWO debut, with
his feet on the ropes. The match started with a great scientific
wrestling clinic, featuring some well executed figure fours.

Glen, with Chaos, called out Rich to set up a dog collar match for next
month. During this spot, Hunter got in Richie’s face and was shoved hard
for his interruption. Rich put the chain over me after the show. Boy
was it heavy! It would be great to work out with.

Match 12 In a face-face contest, Justin Cage made Danny Demento
submit. There was a beautiful double bridge by both guys in the contest
and an excellent suicide dive by Cage. Danny executed a fine superkick,
but it wasn’t enough to get Cage. The match concluded with a ROH
handshake.

Match 13 In a confusing flag match for the tag straps, Rhode Island
Elite defeated the popular Team Thomas. There was lots of action with
chairs and ladders. The flag was actually secured by Team Thomas, but
the ref did not see it. The RIE are excellent heels, but I wish they
would drop the characters outside of the ring. They are extremely
annoying!

Match 14 In the final contest, Joey the Bull, with Tommy Face, faced
Magic for the heavyweight championship. Magic is one of my favorites and
is much too lovable to be a heel. Face was escorted out of security, but
during the match, Gavin Quest interfered on Magic’s behalf. At this
time, Face escaped, came into the ring, hit Magic with the belt, and
allowed Joey to pin Magic for the strap.

This enjoyable BWO card was about 15 minutes too long and fans were a bit
restless by the end. The only criticism I have of the promotion is that
you do not always know who is the face and who is the heel. Forgetting
this flaw, BWO shows feature the most entertaining matches in Northern
New Jersey. Bravo, Richie and company. I cannot wait for the December
show.
