Each August here in Charlotte, we celebrate the rich tradition of the
National Wrestling Alliance at the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekend.
Many of the NWA's great heroes and villains -- all legends of the sport
-- gather here to interact with throngs of appreciative fans from all
over the world, signing autographs and creating lasting new memories for
fans of wrestling "the way it used to be."
One such legend, and at one time one of the most-hated of all wrestling
managers, Jim Cornette joins us this Sunday in Charlotte to make a very
special announcement. The former manager of The Midnight Express, now
a favorite of fanfest attendees and wrestling fans everywhere, will be
here to announce the "NWA Future Legends Cup" competition.
What is the "NWA Future Legends Cup" competition, you ask? It's
simple...
NWA: New Beginnings' Spring series of Sunday afternoon matches at the
Hilton University Place here is a four-month "playoff" which
will culminate at this August's fanfest weekend with one wrestler winning
his way to the "NWA Future Legends Cup."
Everyone that competes here at NWA: New Beginnings is eligible for the
"NWA Future Legends Cup." Won-loss records will be tallied and
the four young superstars with the best overall records will advance,
culminating with a three-match finale Saturday night, August 7 here in
Charlotte to crown a winner.
But there's more!
Not only will one of the extraordinary athletes you see at NWA: New Beginnings
win the "NWA Future Legends Cup," but the winner will also receive
a shot at the coveted "ten pounds of gold," a championship match
on Sunday afternoon, August 8 for the NWA World Heavyweight title!
