Ten Questions With . . .

"The Toxic Diva" Megan Nicole Desire

1. What made you decide to get involved in professional wrestling?

I was a fan off and on for years. I watched RAW whenever I could. One night I was watching it and just got up from the couch, went to the computer, googled for any schools around to train at and foune Playboy Buddy Rose & Colonel De Beers School of Wrestling. I thought, "I bet I can do this". One class and I was hooked.

2. What made you decide to contact Playboy Buddy Rose and Colnel DeBeers' wrestling school?

There were three schools in the area at the time that I knew about. I chose Buddy and Colonel's school because Buddy sat there on the phone with me for 35 minutes talking to me about his career, the school and all I would learn just in my first few classes, and that even though I was a female if I had the heart and determination I could do it. You don't find that attitude amongst a lot of people in this business. A lot are kind of sexist. Buddy wasn't that way at all to me in our conversation.

3. What was it like training with two legends like Rose and DeBeers? What did the average day of training consist of?

It was a lot of fun first off. It wasn't an uptight atmosphere. You either were serious about training or you weren't. Buddy and Colonel let anyone come train and you always got to learn something new or work on what you weren't too good at. You always went through the basic drills and everyone got a practice match in class. They actually took the time to show you, go over it with you til it all stuck, and they praised you when you finally got it. It was a very positive environment that encouraged you to learn and progress. Most legends who have schools don't even teach. They have trainers and sometimes pop there heads in. Buddy and Colonel were at every class. And I was NEVER ever treated any different from the boys. I loved that. I was expected to do the same thing the boys were doing and gender didn't exist once I stepped between those ropes.

4. Who came up with your alias "The Toxic Diva" and why was that the choice?

I came up with it. It fits me well. I'm not some pretty little girl all dolled up prancing around with her breasts popping out of her shirt who can barely lock up. I'm harder, more edgy. I am not afraid to get in there and sweat, break a nail, mess up my hair, get dirty or bruised up. I do clean up nice. I think I am very attractive but looks are not everything. You can be the prettiest girl who steps in the ring and not be able to wrestle one bit. Toxic kind of sounds ugly to some people but to me it's a form of unique beauty all on its own. I want to be all I can be. A devastating force. Toxic.

5. What promotions have you worked for? Which ones stand out as particualarly memorable?

I have worked for so many all in the short time I have been in this business.

  • New Revolution Wrestling managing the Pacific Coast Blonds- "Heartthrob" Erik Hansen, Cameron Star, and Tod Ruhl.
  • BAW Championship Wrestling managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and Caden Matthews.
  • CPW managing "Heartthrob" Eirk Hansen and Nate "The Great" and Critter.
  • CPW/SCW managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck.
  • PWB managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and Kellen "The Hellion" Raeth and Wildcard.
  • NAWA managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and "Hearththrob" Erik Hansen.
  • Pinnacle Pro-Wrestling managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and Dash Venture.
  • West Coast Wrestling Connection managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and Wildcard.
  • International Championship Wrestling managing "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck and Dash Venture and Kellen "The Hellion" Raeth.
  • International Championship Wrestling wrestling managed by "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck.

6. What do you enjoy most and least about the wrestling business?

The atheleticism is great. So are the opportunities I have had to work with people I watched on television as a child or teen. But what I love MOST of all is that I make an impact. I'm the only female around my area who actively participates in wrestling. It inspires a lot of the female teen fans who have come to shows. They always say they were interested in training and wanted to start when they turned 18 because their families don't like it or understand it. Many of them say they like the fact that I went through that too and didn't back down or quit and that's what makes them want to do it even more. It's a pretty awesome feeling to be admired.

7. Are you ever treated differently being a woman in a predominately male sport?

A few times, yes. But mostly no. I change, shower, and train with the boys. Since day one I was treated like one of the boys and I much prefer that. There were a few skeptics who watched girls come to one class and couldn't do any of the basics and never saw them again. But I do what I am told, what the guy in front of me in line is doing and what the guy behind me in line is doing. I know I have earned respect from those skeptics. People who shake my hand, BS with me, refer me to other promotions they work for and won't even give the other girls the time of day. There's a reason I am the only female around here. It's because I do NOT want to be treated differently and I don't draw attention to myself to be treated differently.

8. Who have been some of your favorite people to work with?

Daffney is number one right now. I wasn't very sure about her when I was just a fan. I wasn't that into WCW and she to me before wasn't on my list of favourites but after working a show with her, watching her matches at the promotion we both work, even being in a match with her I must say I totally respect her. That girl can wrestle!

I used to manage Cameron Star and he is a doll. He shares the same love for womens wrestling that I do. I mean he knows his stuff. And we both idolise Ella Waldek. Not many people know their old school womens wrestling. I also love Todd Ruhl who was my body gaurd, whom I managed. All the guys I have managed have been pretty awesome. My respects to my former partner Christohper Ryseck. We had some amazing matches. He helped me along and he is super talented. Even though we have gone our seperate ways I owe him a lot for helping me out so early in my career.

9. If you could go back and do it all over again, would you do anything differently?

No. I am not one to regret anything. I think before I act. I am happy with decisions before I make them. And in any instance where I am at today is a very happy place for me. I am booked all over the country and working with amazing people. I have done a lot in the short 21 months I have been in this business. I am proud of it.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Ideally, I want to be in the big time. Not for the spot light or the money. But to show that I did it! To be amongst some of my idols. I want to feel accomplished and be proud. I want to look in the mirror 5 years from now after a great match. Sweaty, my hair a mess, my face red, my chest heaving, my pounding heart slowly calming down and I want to smile. I want to smile and think to myself "You worked your ass off and you are here because you earned it. It wasn't handed to you. You didn't sacrifice your principles. You were you and stayed true to your heart. That's why you are here."
