Ten Questions With . . .

Mistress Belmont

1. What made you decide to get into the professional wrestling business?

1. My parents got rid of our television when I was about eight years old, so I started watching wrestling when I was baby-sat. I was so inspired by the bad-ass heels - Rick Flair, The Million Dollar Man, and especially Sensational Sherri. I thought Miss Elizabeth was weak, but Sherri was so tough and intense - the polar opposite. I really decided that this is what I wanted to do when I saw Chyna for the first time. Nobody messed with her!

2. Where did you train and what did your training consist of?

2. I'm still (and always will be) under the tutilage of Steve Bradley. He's an amazing wrestler as well as a trainer. He rarely ever teaches "moves" - instead he teaches match structure, ring placement, footwork, stuff that really matters. Anyone can get into the ring and perform big, impressive moves. Not everyone can tell a story, and that's the ultimate goal.

3. What promotions have you worked for? Which ones stand out as your favorties thus far?

3. I try to stay in the New England area until I feel confident that I'm ready to move on. So far I've worked for WFA and NECW, as well as NECW's women's division, WWW. I've gotta say I'm partial to WFA because that's where I got my start.

4. How would you describe your wrestling style? Are there any wrestlers that you try to emulate?

4. I have no real "style" - I just like to kick ass. I mostly rely on various chokes, backbreakers, and anything I can use to debilitate my opponent. Nothing fancy. I don't base anything I do on anyone I've seen, but I'm sure there are similarities.

5. What do you enjoy most (and least) about the wrestling business?

5. The most - The rush I get from going out and performing for a group of people. It always surprises me that I actually have fans, even though I try my hardest to get them to not like me. The least - The egos that people develop for no good reason. More often than not it's not justified.

6. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling? In particular, what do you think of the state of women's wrestling?

6. In all honesty I don't watch wrestling. Once in a while I'll get to see a show, but I generally lose interest in a short amount of time. I guess that's how I'd describe wrestling in general. However, I'm very encouraged by companies such as SHIMMER that focus on only women's wrestling in a "strictly wrestling" way. It gives me hope, because really, does anyone want to see The Mistress in a bra-and-panties tickle fight?

7. Who are your favorite people to step into the ring with or against?

7. Without a doubt, Nikki Roxx. I had my first matches against her and learned how to deal out a proper ass-beating from her. I also enjoyed tangling with with Ms. Deville and Kayla Sparks, as well as Violet Flame. (I had my first blindfold match with her - what a match that was!)

8. What has been your most memorable moment in the sport thus far?

8. Probably my first WWW show - to be included in an all-girls promotion that actually "promoted me" was a great feeling. (I wrestled Violet Flame.)

9. When you aren't wrestling what do do in your spare time?

9. I play video games, go to the gym, train, and hang out with my buddy Oliver. I keep mostly to myself.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

10. I truly hope to have made an impact on wrestling in some form, be it in the independents or the "big time". I also hope to be able to stay humble and not fall victim to the "Independent Ego".
