NWA TNA - June 18th - The Anniversary Show
By Brett Schwan

The show opened with a music video highlighting some of the moments from the past year in NWA TNA.

A white stretch limo arrives. Don and Mike speculate that it's Sting. Shane Douglas gets out of the limo.

The new entranceway is unvieled as Sonny Siaki, Don Harris and David Young enter the ring for the opening contest. Evidentally, along with the new entranceway they must have gives SEX a locker room that is no longer in the back of the building since they are now using the same entrance ramp as everyone else. (why didn't they mention this??). Their opponents, Frankie Kazarian, DLo Brown, and Sandman. Sandman didn't even wrestle in the match as he was drinking in the crowd. Kazarian and DLo dominated the match. DLo hit the frog splash for the pin on Young. Mike Sanders and Ron Harris ran in and all 5 SEX members beat down Sandman. Sting and Jeff Jarrett made the save weilding their bat and guitar respectively.

Mike Tenay and Don West welcome us to the 1 Year Anniversary show. They also welcome the new Spanish Announce Team of Armando and Konan.

The first of several "Flashbacks" features Piper, Jarrett confronting SEX, and the Russo and Rhodes squaring off.

Vince Russo comes to the ring. He talks for what seems like an eternity before introducing AJ Styles. Mike Tenay then enters the ring and tells AJ that Russo has brainwashed him. DLo Brown enters the ring and credits Russo for giving him a shot but doesn't know him anymore. He also doesn't know AJ. Russo tells DLo that he made DLo and tonight he will make him his bitch. DLo attacks Russo but AJ attacks DLo. Raven runs in and attacks AJ and Russo. As Raven goes for the Raven Effect, Shane Douglas runs in and hits a belly to belly on Raven.

We quickly cut to the back where Goldylocks is interviewing Veronica and Tracy. Tracy says they have been told they can no longer compete with the men. Veronica says they'll handle things their own way. They walk off. Eric Watts comes in and asks Goldy if she took care of things. She said no and he told her she would not interview Kid Kash tonight.

Outside, Julio and Alexis are worried because Raven is going to be mad and may disband the Gathering. CM Punk walks over and says he wants to be a member. Julio and Alexis tell him this is a bad time to try and join the Gathering.

Flashback to AJ Styles winning the X Division Title

X Division Title Match. Chris Sabin v Paul London. Awesome match which saw London with a running shooting star press off the ring apron to Sabin. London tried to Skin the Cat but Sabin knocked him to the floor and followed with a slingshot twisting cross body block. CM Punk then came to ringside, entered the ring, and sat in the corner (ala Raven). Paul hit the London Calling on Sabin but was unable to cover him. Punk then hit the Raven Effect on London as the ref was checking on Sabin. Future Shock by Sabin for the pin.

Goldy interviews New Jack about his match tonight. As New Jack discusses how he is going to "whoop" Mike Sanders, Shark Boy comes in. New Jack tells him that he does not have time to play tonight. Shark Boy shows New Jack his Hulk hands. New Jack says after his match he'll whoop Shark Boy with the hands.

Kash is shown looking in a cage for the "Big Scary Dude" from last week.

Flashback to Puppet attacking Don West, Jasmine giving Jeremy Borash a lap dance, and Chris Rock (how glad am I that we didn't get this back then?)

The Hard 10 Semi Final match saw New Jack defeat Mike Sanders after hitting him with the Hulk Hand and knocking him off the apron and through a table.

We are then shown highlights of "The Female Phenom, Trinity."

Flashback: Dusty debuts, Raven Debuts, DLo Debuts.

Justin Credible beat Jerry Lynn in an incredibly short match. Credible held the ropes but the ref didn't see it. The two men continued to brawl through the crowd after the match.

BG James (as Mike Tenay) then interviewed Konan and Ron Killings. He asked the intriguing questions like.. "Ron, what's up with your people's fatuation with fried chicken?" and "Konan, what is that Taco Bell dog really like?" Killings had the same comeback he attacked me with a few weeks ago, "What did you have for supper? The table?"

Flashback: Dusty talks about the midget beating off in the garbage can, The midget beats off in a garbage can.

Kenzo Suzuki lost to Perry Saturn by DQ when Justin Credible ran in and caned Perry. Lynn then ran in and the two continued to brawl.

Goldy interviews AJ and says, "You don't even know who your opponent is tonight." Uh, Goldy, sure he does... we all do... it was announced last week and all night tonight... his OPPONENT is Jarrett and Sting. He doesn't know who his PARTNER is!!

Flashback: Toby Keith, Sterling Marlin and Hermie Sadler, Tennessee Titans

Tag Team Title match is up next. America's Most Wanted v Triple X accompanied by Low Ki. Best match I have ever seen AMW have. AMW hits the Death Sentence on Christopher Daniels but the ref is pulled from the ring after he counts 2. Low Ki throws a belt in the ring. Elix runs in and hits Harris with it setting him up to be pinned. Triple X retain the gold!

Earlier today Mike Tenay interviewed Jerry Jarrett. Jarrett discussed everything from NWA to WWE to Vince Russo.

Eric Watts is in the ring and he calls out Kid Kash. Watts goes for the chokeslam on Kash, after being called a bitch, and as he picks him up and holds him, he sees Goldy in a cage in the back with the "Big Scary Guy". Watts runs to her aid only to be attacked from behind by Kash.

Flashback: Jarrett v Styles, Jarrett v Styles v Raven

Don and Mike thank us for our support and announce that starting next week there will be a frequent buyers club, Siaki v Sandman in the Hard 10 Semi Finals. AMW interrupts. Harris announces next week, Tag Title Match, AMW v Triple X inside a steel cage!!

AJ Styles enters the ring with Vince Russo. Russo announces AJ's partner for the night... Sean Waltman, Syxx Pac. Nothing. Finally, he actually comes out. Jarrett and Sting enter. Sting actually worked most of the match until the final few minutes. The ref was knocked down. Jarrett hit The Stroke on AJ, Russo hit Jarrett in the back with a bat, Raven attacked Russo, Shane Douglas attacked Raven, Shane hit another Stroke for a 2 ct. Jarrett then hit a Stroke off the 2nd rope for the pin. Russo attacked him again only to have Sting pull him off. Raven and Jarrett were then face to face in the ring. Sting separated them and raised both their hands in the air.

The show ends.

Overall, a much better show than that last 2 weeks (IMO). AMW had the best match I've ever seen them have. The BG interview with Konan and Killings was at least funny even if it went a little too long. Russo went WAY too long and if they want to assure a huge drop in whatever ratings they have, keep letting him cut 20 minute neverending promos about nothing. The flashbacks were a nice way to show some of the highlights to fans who may not have seen them before. Credible v Lynn was good but short. Hopefully, we'll see more from them in the future. The opening 6 man was also very good. Sabin v London stole the show but that's no surprise. Let's see if they continue the upward streak into next week or if next week returns to all promos no wrestling.
