Crazy Shea Interview

By P. Staniforth 2005

Here’s a chance to catch up with one of the hottest young wrestlers on the independent scene in the USA right now, and a close friend of mine – Crazy Shea.

PETER) : Can I start by thanking you for this interview, and asking how you’re doing?

SHEA) : I’m doing good, thanks Peter.

PETER) : Okay, let’s start by talking about your childhood.

SHEA) : Well, I am the older of two children. My mom raised me, and being a young single mom was hard as she was sixteen when she had me; so I was moved around a lot. But I think in the long run it helped me with my social skills, I’ve been around a lot of places because of her and I have got to experience a lot more than most people. My grandfather Bill Shea and my uncle Danny Shea kind of took the role of being a father figure until my mom got married to Ron Loomis. He had no kids and it was weird at first. But to this day I love the guy and now call him dad, I can’t remember a time now when I didn’t really. My little brother’s father took him away from my mom at a young age, though we live together now in the bachelor pad near Ocean City, MD (which is a party town and a half!).

PETER) : When did you first view wrestling?

SHEA) : I first saw wrestling on the lap of my grandfather. I believe it was the NWA. I always rooted for the underdogs for some reason…

PETER) : Just like me. Did you know you wanted to be a wrestler, or did it just kind of happen by surprise?

SHEA) : I always wanted to do it. And at the age of sixteen I began to hang around a local wrestling company in Baltimore. This led to me becoming friends with some of the wrestlers and eventually training with Van Hammer and Bone Breakers.

PETER) : How did you get your first break in the business?

SHEA) : I started with CPW with a guy that claimed he was “ The Original Assassin”. We pretty much trained ourselves to begin with, but then me and another guy became suspicious and went to Van Hammer who went and exposed the guy as a fake. So, from that; Hammer started a school in conjunction with MCW’s Bone breakers.

PETER) : Where did that lead on to, were there other people who you’d credit with training you?

SHEA) : My basic wresting instructor was Van Hammer, but I have since gone to seminars with Ricky Morton, Bobby Eaton, and Tony Marmaluke.

PETER) : What were your first matches like?

SHEA) : I actually got shot on in one of my first matches, so I was instantly put out of wrestling for two weeks after my first match. This was also the end to my relationship with MCW.

PETER) : Not the best experience to start off with, but sure to make you tougher and wise to the darker side of this business. How would you describe yourself as a wrestler?

SHEA) : I like to push the edge. But I love the people; I try to bring them closer to whatever I do. I listen to them and listen to what they want to see. I’m known for my more high spot wrestling and crazy jumps to the outside.

PETER) : What have been your favorite matches or shows that you were involved in so far?

SHEA) : It would have to be with Chris Wyld when we won the DCW tag team Titles. It was our first belt ever for both of us and the fans jumped the barricade. I mean, there we were; two kids who had made one hell of a run up the ladder and won against all odds. The crowd was about 250 people on the night that we won the title, and to me it was defining.

PETER) : Who are your better friends in the business? I believe we share some…

SHEA) : We sure do. Sonjay Dutt, Ruckus, Sugar Daddy, Zachary Luaghman, Lisa, Phil, Jaden, Rebel, Glenn Osborne, John Rambo ... I thank you all for your help and guidance so far, because without you guys this wouldn’t be possible.

PETER) : What would you call your lowest point in wrestling so far?

SHEA) : Pinching a nerve in my back, without a doubt. I was out for a month rehabbing. This sucked for me so much, because I can’t even watch wrestling without wanting to be in the ring.

PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?

SHEA) : I’m a video gamer. If I’m not wrestling or training … I’m playing a video game or working the real gimmick.

PETER) : What five words do you feel describe you best?

SHEA) : Adventurous. Darefull (my own word!). Bold. Courageous. Sexy!

PETER) : What are your plans for the future?

SHEA) : To entertain the people, no matter it whether it could be five or five thousand; and to the best of my ability.

PETER) : How do you feel about WWE, TNA, and the indy’s?

SHEA) : To take that step by step… The WWE are too mainstream for my taste. It’s not fan based, and it’s a force fed product. TNA is great, and it’s the best thing out there for hungry indy workers. As for the indy’s, although some promoters are slime balls; it’s the other wrestlers and the fans that keep us where we are and successful. It’s the undying chase to the never ending dream.

PETER) : Who do you like to watch or learn from?

SHEA) : I like to watch old Sting tapes. That, and Rey Mysterio; it’s an odd mix but the charisma is there and that’s something I like to focus on and channel.

PETER) : To wrap things up, is there anything you'd like to promote; or anyone you'd like to thank?

SHEA) : I’d like to give thanks to Rage Promotions. You can check them out www.ragefans.tk. Also thanks to John Rambo and Shawn Hardy, Jeff rocker and the guys at DCW. And you of course, Peter. And to everyone who ever gave a damn about me, thank you.
