Danny Doring Interview.
By P. Staniforth 2003.

As someone who adored ECW from the very beginning in 1993, it's always a thrill for me to speak to people who were a part of it. Recently I had the opportunity to catch up with a man who sadly, we've not seen that much of on television since the demise of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Danny Doring is one of the few wrestlers tough enough to make it out of the ECW House of Hardcore wrestling school, and that speaks volumes about him. But, just because you might not have seen him on television; doesn't mean Danny isn't busy - He's all over the indy circuit, and recently in 3PW and NWATNA. Here's what Danny had to say when we spoke...

PETER STANIFORTH) : Hello, Danny - and thanks firstly for your time in this interview as I know you're very busy. Lots of people have been asking where you are now, and what you're doing. Tell us about your childhood, and how you first found wrestling.

DANNY DORING) : I grew up in a small town. My mother pretty much worked all the time to support me until she re-married in 1985. In the meantime, I spent a lot of time with my Great Aunt. My great Aunt and I spent every weekend watching wrestling on her 13 inch black and white television.

PETER) : Most people know, but just for the record; who were you trained by; and also who were your first matches against?

DANNY) : I was trained by Tazz and Perry Saturn at the ECW House of Hardcore. Most of my first matches were against Tazz or Chris Chetti until Paul Heyman put Roadkill and I together as a permanent tag team.

PETER) : I used to especially love yourself and Roadkill's promo's, myself. You were definitely one of the better teams in the storied history of ECW. What was the first title you held? And, what belts have you held recently?

DANNY) : My first title was the ECW tag team title, which I'm proud to say that I'm the last ever to co-hold it. Since then I have won many singles titles like the NWA Florida and Maryland unified Heavyweight titles.

PETER) : Well, as I always love to do - it's name dropping time! Tell us who your closest friends are in the business.

DANNY) : I have many friends within the buisness, but as an example; Chris Chetti, Tommy Dreamer, Nunzio, Tazz, Jeff Jones are just to name a few that I talk to regularly.

PETER) : That's quite an ECW alumni list! What do you like to do in your spare time?

DANNY) : In my spare time I work out, spend time on the beach; and go to a lot of concerts. Most recently I've seen Queensryche and Iron Maiden. Also, I'm going to see Life of Agony and Anthrax this summer.

PETER) : Wouldn't like to say I'm jealous, but..... Anyone who knows me, knows I've been playing guitar for a long time and I'm jealous! As a final thought, have you ever thought of coming over to England to wrestle at some point, and is there anything you'd like to promote?

DANNY) : I would be most interested in coming to England. I'd like to promote my official website, www.dannydoring.net.

PETER) : Thanks once again for your time, and the best of luck for all you're doing in the future.

DANNY) : Thank you.
