Flaming Red Interview

By P.Staniforth

November 2004

And in my little interview office this time, is another good friend of mine; the always entertaining and high flying Flaming Red. Anyone who has seen him wrestle, will be surprised I managed to persuade the aerial star to sit down this long!

PETER) : Thanks for the time taken for this interview. Firstly, where are you from?

RED) : I’m from the bad streets of East London! Poplar to be precise.

PETER) : For those who might not be familiar with you, how would you describe yourself as a wrestler?

RED) : I’m a bit of an all rounder. I do technical moves, high flying moves, weird made up
stuff; you name it and I’m doing it!

PETER) : How did you first get into the business, and also who were you trained by?

RED) : I started training at the FWA academy in London. The good old days! I got trained by people like The New Breed, Dino Scarlo; and Alex Shane.

PETER) : Some cringe, and yet some smile when I ask this next question - What were your first matches like?

RED) : Well, my first wrestling match was against my very good friend Curve of The New
Breed tag team. It was a singles match at Future Shock 3. It was quite awesome, I really
enjoyed it. We just tore the place up with chairs, dragon suplexes, shining wizards; etc..... and I won by a school boy pin fall.

PETER) : That sounds like a good one! Who do you admire in wrestling, or like to watch and learn from?

RED) : I admire a lot of people in the wrestling business. Robbie Brookside is a
legend. Phil Powers is gifted. Ric Flair, The New Breed, Ricky Knight, Zebra
Kid, Klondyke Kate. The list goes on and on. There are so many workers that
amaze me in loads of ways.

PETER) : Totally agree about Robbie and Phil, and the one thing that brought me and you together as friends is a love of Ric Flair – so let’s shout ‘Whooo!’ for all the people reading this at this point! Who do you consider your friends in the wrestling business?

RED) : The New Breed have been really good friends of mine since day one in the business, they have always been there.... from watching my matches, to always being on the end of the phone asking if I’m okay from recent injuries or even just for a laugh. I respect and love those boys to death! Hade Vanson is another worker whom I am great friends with, Tex Benedict, Spud, Justin Richards and the main person.... my best buddy is Kristian Linell. We have been through it all
together. Missing last trains home from shows, sleeping rough, partying, training....everything...he is like a brother to me.

PETER) : You can’t beat that kind of a bond with someone, it’s great. What are your goals in professional wrestling?

RED ) : My main goal is to get a big name for myself. I’m not talking about WWE and stuff like that. I’m happy doing what I’m doing at the moment. I just want to get an established name for myself in the UK.... a fan following and a title!

PETER) : That will happen, I’m sure of that. What do you like to do in your spare time?

RED) : I like to listen to music, to surf the net, hang out with my little bro, talk to my
superstar girlfriend; to hang out with friends and just to chill out.

PETER) : What promotions do you currently work for?

RED) : Currently, I can be found working for WAW, RBW, UWA, Premier Promotions, All Star, EWW, DAM, EWF.

PETER) : What are your plans for the immediate future?

RED) : My plans are to get a driving license! Then, to get more and more bookings all over the place. And overall, to just have fun doing what I love doing in wrestling.

PETER) : And to finish off, is there anything you’d like to promote?

RED) : I want to promote RBW firstly. They are going be a big thing someday, a lot of hard work and effort goes into that company from Adam Mumford and it will all pay off in the end. I want to get a championship title, I need to promote that! Give me a title shot! Peace. And thank you to Peter for this interview.

PETER) : Thanks again for your time, and the best of luck for the future.
