Kris Krude Interview.
By P.Staniforth 2005.
Heres a chance to learn more about one of the best independent workers in Philadelphia right now Kris Krude.
PETER) : Thanks for this interview, as I know youre very busy. So, how did you first get into watching wrestling?
KRIS) : One word Hulkamania!!! Some older kids in my neighborhood were really big fans back in the early 1980s, and my mother was a casual fan. I think my earliest set of wrestling related memories would be the events leading up to the first Wrestle Mania. I was really upset about missing the main event. I knew I was hooked right away. The most intense I had ever been involved in wrestling was leading up to WrestleMania III. I absolutely hated Andre The Giant and Bobby Heenan. Looking back on the reaction they got from me, is what I keep in mind when I wrestle.
PETER) : Did you know you wanted to be a wrestler, or did it just kind of happen by surprise?
KRIS) : I always thought that it would be awesome to do it. Ive always loved wrestling, and had to know if I could do it. Being in law and politics was always my primary goal as far as a career. Then, when the time to graduate high school came about; I looked at myself and made the decision to really go for wrestling. I didnt want to grow old and look back wondering what could have been.
PETER) : I can very much understand that. How did you get your first break in the business?
KRIS) : I made some phone calls, and some connections. I got connected with a really shady promoter who made a lot of false promises. His booker picked up where he dropped the ball and made sure that I was taken care of to the best of his abilities. I started training and had my first match two months later as Brickwall Bradley.
PETER) : Who trained you to wrestle?
KRIS) : Due to the circumstances from the last question, I ended up having many trainers; but the guy that started it was Rick Adams.
PETER) : What were your first matches like?
KRIS) : Absolutely horrible! I cant even stand watching anything from my first year. Although, my first match is sometimes neat to view; because I like watching where I got my first major concussion.
PETER) : Hmmm. Im glad Im a writer! How would you describe yourself as a wrestler?
KRIS) : Entertaining. You may not see me doing a triple jump shooting star press through fifteen tables covered in thumb tacks and acid. I cant invent forty seven different suplexes during breakfast. But what I can do, I do very well and present it in a very entertaining manner. Dont get me wrong, Im definitely not another one of those big guy wrestlers who uses a splash as a finisher. I can and do wrestle, but what I really try to do is put the entertainment in sports entertainment.
PETER) : What would you consider your favourite match or show that you were involved in?
KRIS) : I am a really harsh critic of my matches. I dont think I have had that great defining match of my career yet. Ive heard from a lot of people, including those whose opinion I really take to heart; that the match I had with Shaka at MCWs Full Access was very good. It was the match that got people to really take notice of me. I know that right now I dont have a match that I call my personal favourite. I dont know if I ever will. The two matches I had following that one with Sam Jones for GPXW in Georgia, and with CJ ODoyle for 3PW in Philadelphia were also matches that felt very good. The exposure that has come from those matches has been great for my career.
PETER) : Who do you feel are your friends in the business?
KRIS) : Its honestly hard to say who your friends are in this business, because there is so much backstabbing. I know whos got my back and I dont think that I really need to share that.
PETER) : Im told Philly can be a strange place for that kind of thing. What would be considered your lowest point in wrestling so far?
Everything before being Kris Krude, except for the steel cage match I had where I carried Shaka against Capt. Rick Adams and Yar.
PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?
KRIS) : I am very involved in politics. I am a college student pursuing a degree in Political Science and eventually Corporate Law. I dont really get any spare time outside of that. When it so happens that I have some I do enjoy watching movies and CJ ODoyle matches. And I love women.
PETER) : Which is a perfectly understandable thing. What five words you feel describe you best?
KRIS) : Entertaining, Sincere, Teacher, Student, Hot.
PETER) : What are your plans for the future?
KRIS) : Ill probably make out with her first.
PETER) : Hmmm, I guess I cant really answer that! What are your thoughts on WWE and TNA, and the indy's?
KRIS) : Ill explain it like this. The indys are like a regular high school dance. You are really happy to be there, you have a decent date; but you are only an underclassman who has a very small chance of getting invited to the big after parties. You have to be upper class to get invited to Homecoming and Prom. TNA and WWE are Homecoming and the Prom respectively. Im happy to be at this dance but I want to make it to Homecoming and be on the court. I want to go to the Prom and be the King. Those are the guys that score all the time.
PETER) : A very interesting analogy and one that works well. I have one involving a traditional English Sunday roast dinner, and the booking of a wrestling show; but Ill save it for another time! Who do you like to watch or learn from?
This is going to be an awkward list. Ill keep it to the mainstream guys that I view the most. As far as studying, it depends on what Im trying to focus on. If just in general, I guess it all starts with Hulk Hogan for me. Where better to start than the top? I love watching HHH too. I dont care what people say about him, hes on top so he must be doing something right. I love JBL, what a great story he has in the way he changed his gimmick and has been able to run with it. Steven William Regal is my favourite all time technical wrestler. He is, or at least was; very smooth with his transitions into moves. I loved his WCW TV Title reign. When I am watching for spots that I should do as a larger wrestler, its all Yokozuna for me. I have to give Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels their props as well, as far as making the fans believe what is happening.
PETER) : And to finish up, is there anything you'd like to promote? or anyone you'd like to thank?
KRIS) : Id like to thank you Peter, for setting this up. Ill take this time to plug my official website www.kriskrude.com. Ill also plug the people that build my site www.dotcomdorks.com. They are awesome! I want to give a quick plug to two new promotions that I am working for. I just recently debuted for GPXW based in Swainsboro, Ga., and you can learn more about them at www.gpxw.com. I also got one of the biggest opportunities in my career a week later when I debuted at 3PWs March Madness. I have been asked back to 3PW for their next show on April 9th 2005. For more information, their site is www.3pwrestling.com. I dont want to be that guy who plugs everything but I also want to plug Far North Wrestling where I will be wrestling the night before my return to 3PW. You can view their website at www.fnwwrestling.net.
