Rich And Famous Interview.

By P.Staniforth

November 2004.

I recently had a chance to sit down with one of the stars of RBW (Revolution British Wrestling), the always entertaining Rich And Famous; and catch a few thoughts and comments with him.

PETER) : Hi, and as always; thank you for your time in doing this. Firstly, where are you from?

RICH) : I’m from Hitchin, in the great county of Hertfordshire UK.

PETER) : Just ten miles down the road from yours truly. How would you describe yourself as a wrestler?

RICH) : A high flyer!! No, seriously…. I’m very vocal towards the crowd and whoever I’m wrestling. In respect to style I’d say I’m more of a brawler or power guy, as I’m bigger than a lot of guys I’ve wrestled; but I’m looking to improve my mat/technical wrestling skills.

PETER) : So, how did you first get into the business; and also who were you trained to wrestle by?

RICH) : Like a lot of the current guys, I was a fan of the then WWF; and really wanted to try it myself. Eventually I started training at ‘Dropkixx’ and being trained by The New Breed and Kruiz, and then late last year I wanted a change so I started attending the RBW School in Enfield; where the likes of Sammy Ray, Jorge Castano, and Johnny Kidd have helped train me further.

PETER) : And with people as talented as those three on your side, there’s no way you can lose! What were your first matches like?

RICH) : They were pretty awful! I tended to panic when I first started out, so that wasn’t too great. However working on the holiday camps helped me get over that initial fear and helped me improve no end.

PETER) : Believe it or not, I used to be nervous about writing. Sometimes I still get a little nervous, but if that went away I guess it’d be time to stop. Who do you admire in wrestling, or like to watch and learn from?

RICH) : I’ve always been a fan of Chris Jericho and Bret Hart. In the past I would say the late and great ‘Mr Perfect’ Curt Hennig, Shawn Michaels; and also Low Ki is a current favourite of mine. I try to learn from all the above, and also Ric Flair to try to capture his attitude and ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase to get a sense of how he carries himself in the ring; as I believe he and Flair are two of the greatest villains ever.

PETER) : I totally agree with you on that, and believe looking to the ‘old-school’ is the best way to learn because then you learn from the best; and also can take and adapt what you feel suits you for yourself and your work. Who do you consider your friends in the wrestling business?

RICH) : Kid Romeo and Corey Davis are two good friends of mine, Corey as we share an interest in alcohol and cheesy pubs; and Romeo as we both started out at the same time as each other and we try to open doors for one another. I’ve always got on pretty well with Ashe and Mark Shaman as well.

PETER) : What are your goals in professional wrestling?

RICH) : Firstly to keep improving and learning, and secondly to keep going for as long as possible.

PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?

RICH) : At the moment I’m studying at University, so I don’t have a lot of spare time. But I’m a bit of a film nerd so that’s something I enjoy doing, and sleeping is also a keen hobby of mine.

PETER) : Sleeping is something I can very much relate to! What promotions do you currently work for?

RICH) : RBW (Revolution British Wrestling), and Rebel Pro Wrestling.

PETER) : What are your plans for the immediate future?

RICH) : To get more exposure for myself, and to carry on enjoying wrestling.

PETER) : And to finish off, thank you for your time; and is there anything you would like to promote?

RICH) : Yes, a couple of websites – my own, www.richnfamous.tk , and www.pswrestling.net too!

PETER) Thanks, my friend; and all the best for the future.
