Rob Eckos Interview

By P. Staniforth 2005.

Rob Eckos is one of the bright young stars of the independent wrestling scene, and particular 3PW. Here’s what he had to say when I caught up with him recently for a chat.

PETER) : Hi Rob, thanks for doing this. Let’s start by asking a little about your childhood.

ROB) : It was a pretty normal one. Regular family, regular friends.

PETER) : When did you first view wrestling?

ROB) : I would say I was probably aged around four, at that point.

PETER) : Did you know you wanted to be a wrestler, or did it just kind of happen by surprise?

ROB) : No, I always knew I wanted to do this.

PETER) : So, how did you get into the business?

ROB) : I chose to train at a small school in New Jersey.

PETER) : What were your first matches like?

ROB) : They were fairly regular for someone at that point in time, just school shows that were pretty simple.

PETER) : To someone who doesn’t know you, how would you describe yourself as a wrestler?

ROB) : I’d say I was cocky and think I’m the man, but fairly old school in most ways.

PETER) : What would be your favourite match or show that you’ve been a part of?

ROB) : It’s hard to say, there’s many; but I always enjoy working with the ECWA.

PETER) : Who are your better friends in the business?

ROB) : Damian Adams, Josh Daniels, Matt Striker, Mike Kruel, and Billy Bax are some of my closest friends.

PETER) : What would you say has been your lowest point in wrestling so far?

ROB) : Ehh, there’s been many ups and downs so far…

PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?

ROB) : I like to work out, I go to school, like to chill at bars, the usual stuff; after all I’m 21 years old!

PETER) : What five words do you feel describe you best?

ROB) : Funny, cool, easy going, elaborate; and most of all regular.

PETER) : What are your plans for the future?

ROB) : I plan to finish school, and then go on to my job. Or possibly wrestle full time if the opportunity presents itself to me.

PETER) : What are your thoughts on WWE and TNA, and the indy's?

ROB) : WWE - Money, TNA - Different, the indy’s - Some are good, but some are virtually backyard wrestling nowadays.

PETER) : What wrestlers you like to watch or learn from?

ROB) : I think a lot of the guys are good, but lately I’ve really been paying attention to Christian in the WWE.

PETER) : And to finish up, is there anything you'd like to promote?

ROB) : I’d like to tell the readers about my website, which can be found at www.robeckos.com.
