Shirley Doe Interview.

Here’s an interview conducted with a main star of the IWC, the talented on many levels; Shirley Doe.

PETER) : Thanks for making the time for this interview. What was growing up like?

SHIRLEY) : I grew up the child of two teachers, with one brother. We weren't allowed to watch wrestling, as it was too violent. Well, we did anyway. We would get ready for church early, then while our parents got ready; watch old WWF tapings from the Hamburg Field House. When the commercials were on, that was the bell and we killed each other.

PETER) Can you remember when you first viewed wrestling?

SHIRLEY) : The first TV match I can remember, is a three falls match between the Samoans and the Strongbows. The first live main event I saw was Muraco vs. Backlund.

PETER) : Did you know you wanted to be a wrestler, or did it just kind of happen by surprise?

SHIRLEY) : I always knew I'd do it.

PETER) : How did you get your first break in the business?

SHIRLEY) : I did the logos for Steel City Wrestling, and got hooked up for my art.

PETER) : Who trained you to wrestle?

SHIRLEY) : Benson Lee, then T Rantula and Lord Zoltan, then finally Dory Funk, Jr.

PETER) : What were your first matches like?

SHIRLEY) They were as bad as you can imagine.

PETER) : How would you describe yourself as a wrestler?

SHIRLEY) : I'm more concerned with emotion and telling a story, than a move that you would rewind a tape over and over again for.

PETER) : What would you consider your favourite match or show, that you were involved in?

SHIRLEY) : I really enjoyed my matches with Orion and Super Hentai. I had a few with Sebastian Dark that were fun. Probably my favourite match ever is me/Glenn Spectre vs. Eric Extasy/Sebastian Dark. Either that, or any of the matches I've got to have with Tracy Smothers.

PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?

SHIRLEY) : I'm a writer for a college. So, I guess I have a real life.

PETER) : What five words you feel describe you best?

SHIRLEY) : Serious. Passionate. Devoted. Numb. Learning.

PETER) : What are your plans for the future?

SHIRLEY) : To do another Japan tour as soon as possible.

PETER) : What are your thoughts on WWE and TNA, and the indy's?

SHIRLEY) : Is this a plea to my negativity? I'm glad that guys have work, but I just don't enjoy it much. I don't watch shows I'm not on, generally. The more you wrestle, the less a fan of it you become.

PETER) : Who do you like to watch or learn from?

SHIRLEY) : I learn something from every match, even if it's “I never want to wrestle that guy again.” You can learn more from wrestling Tracy Smothers than you can watching two hundred hours of highspots.

PETER) : A very true statement. To finish up, is there anything you'd like to promote, or anyone you'd like to thank?
