Tara Charisma Interview.
By P. Staniforth 2004.

It isn't often I interview young ladies of professional wrestling, so when the opportunity came up; there was no way I was saying no! This is a chance to get more in depth and find out the views of one of the hottest women in wrestling today, the lovely Tara Charisma.

PETER) : - Hi Tara, and thank you for your time. When did you first discover wrestling?

TARA) : - I remember watching wrestling with my Father and Grandfather. I used to play with wrestling figures too. I have a cute/funny wrestling story. I remember watching once while a tag team (I don't remember who!) was being interviewed. While one guy spoke, his partner was in the background. I didn't like him so I stuck my tongue out at him. Coincidentally he stuck his tongue out right back at me. I thought he could see me so I ran out of the room screaming!

PETER) : - That's really funny! Mind you, I have the same kind of issues to this day with my son Andrew as he's wrestling obsessed (and I can't IMAGINE where he gets it from!). What made you want to be come a wrestler?

TARA) : - I started really getting into wrestling. I would watch it religiously and I guess because of that it inspired me to want to be in the business. I then met a bunch of people who also wanted to be wrestlers so we all bonded on that basis.

PETER) : - This business, and the love of it; really brings people of all different backgrounds together. How did you get your break in the business?

TARA) : - I knew the promoter of UCW/ICW outside of wrestling. He was running a show and my friends and I decided to help him take down the ring afterwards. The show after that we helped with the set up and because of that I met a lot of the wrestlers. I met Boogalou & Damian Dragon who helped me start to learn to bump and roll. I also met Chris Divine who invited me to train at Mikey Whipwreck's school. When I went to Mikey's I joined that night and began my training.

PETER) : - I've always been a mark for Mikey's work, I must admit! What were your first matches like?

TARA) : - My first match was unexpected. It was for GLOOW. I thought I was just going for promos and pictures.. but it ended up that I had a match. I was so nervous (and I still get nervous to this day before I wrestle). I threw on an outfit I brought and borrowed Becky Bayless' wrestling shoes! The match was really good so I was really happy!

PETER) : - I get nervous with articles, and interviews; it's all natural. When you open yourself up to public viewing, your creativity from any perspective like writing or wrestling; nerves are all part of it I think. What would you consider your best moments in wrestling so far?

TARA) : - My best moments in wrestling would have to be winning my first belt at SSCW. And also when I have really good matches. I think one of my best matches was for NYWC vs Foxxy Dreams. The match was good and the crowd was so involved that it really made everything 10 times better. That match will definitely go on the "Best of Tara Charisma" tape that I will make when I have other good matches! Ha!

PETER) : - And when you do that tape, I'd be happy to review it on the websites! Who are your favorite opponents, and also your friends in the business?

TARA) : - I have a lot of favorite opponents! Ariel, Alere Little Feather, Becky Bayless, Alicia, Tracy Brooks! All those girls are great. I'm friends with all of them too! Other friends of mine are Ken Scampi, Jai Kronic, Mike Tobin... the list goes on. I'm a very lovable girl ;)

PETER) : - You won't get any argument from me there! What do you like to do in your spare time?

TARA) : - Aside from wrestling I am a full time college student, studying to be an English teacher. I love going to the movies, listening to music, going to concerts, and basically hanging out with my friends.

PETER) : - What are your thoughts on WWE and TNA?

TARA) : - WWE, to be honest I haven't watched it in almost 2 years. I have no idea what's going on aside from what people attempt to have conversations with me about. Last time I saw it, and from what I hear it needs improvement.. but then again most of wrestling has been on a downfall. As for TNA, I haven't watched it in a long time but I would love to work for them. I think its good that it gives fans another option aside from WWE.

PETER) : - It's certainly needed. What are your thoughts on the indy's?

TARA) : - I've had a great time working the indy circuit. Have I had some bad times? Yes. Do I wish wrestlers and promoters would have a better relationship with each other? Yes. People should stop getting into silly arguments with each other. We are all a big dysfunctional family, we should try and get along -at least for the fans sake!

PETER) : - Those are very true words. It's good to know that people feel that way, and it's not just me with a daft romantic wrestling dream where people get along and want to help each other. Do you have any advice for people who want to get in to the business?

TARA) : - For anyone who wants to get into wrestling the most important thing is to always put school first. Don't think that you're going start wrestling and you'll be so amazing you wont need anything to fall back on. You never know what's going to happen so you should always put education before anything.

PETER) : - Again, well said. To close this interview, what are your plans for the future, and anything you'd like to add yourself?

TARA) : - As for the future - wrestling wise I hope to continually get better! I always want to put on a good show for everyone! Thanks for reading this and please visit www.taracharisma.com -- Don't forget to sign the guestbook and check out my Summer Video Special Project!!

PETER) : - Tara, it's been an utter pleasure. Thank you for your time.
