Numerous sources are confirming that the "Angel of
Death" Dave Sheldon, passed away this weekend at his home in Bedford,
TX.
No further details are available at the moment.
Sheldon worked for many North American territories during the 1980s and
early 1990s including Stampede Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling,
and Bill Watts's Universal Wrestling Federation as the bodyguard of The
Freebirds.
In August 1990, while competing in World Championship Wrestling, Sheldon
also began wrestling as the Black Scorpion during house shows. The identity
of the Black Scorpion, speculated by announcers at the time to have been
a former friend of Sting, was hinted to be as one of several wrestlers
then competing in World Championship Wrestling including the Angel of
Death, having been a former training partner of Sting while a part of
Powerteam USA several years before.
Sheldon was also part of the California-based Powerteam USA group, which
included Sting, "Ultimate Warrior" Jim Hellwig and Mark Miller.
He first started wrestling in Stampede Wrestling with Owen Hart, Brian
Pillman, and Chris Benoit.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Sheldon.
