Rob Ryzin1. What made you decide to get involved in professional wrestling? RR: Well I have been a fan of professional wrestling (WWF) just about as long as I can remember; I would emulate all the taunts, moves, promos etc, anything from wearing Warrior Face paint and shoestrings on my arms, to stripping out of my PJs during HBKs entrance. So it was always a dream of mine that I would someday be in there doing what they were doing, and well when I turned 15 I started searching Locally for somewhere I can contact for training. 2. When was your first professional match? Who was it against? For what promotion? RR: My first LIVE match was in HVW (High Velocity Wrestling) it was a 4 on 3 handicap match that featured, The Hollywood Kid JDT, Rob Ryzin, Jay Synn and the HVW Commissioner VS. Tag Team Champs, Deuce and Bud Doobie along with Vinny Vagrant. It was a match I would never forget cause I somewhere in the match had gotten a concussion but, didnt feel it till shortly after the match was said and done. 3. Who are some of your favorite people to step into the ring against?
Why? RR: Hmmm thats a tough one, I would have to say that Jammer in
Kansas is good cause as a heel can put over any face to the fullest extent,
but locally I like to Wrestle JDT cause our similar age and a good clash
of styles that allow us to change up any match no matter how many time
we wrestle one another, and Jay Synn cause we worked and trained together
a lot so we have really built a chemistry in the ring. Others include:
Tommy Tanaka, Paul Diamond, and Pablo Escobar. 4. What has been the highlight of your career thus far? RR: I would say, 2 things: 1. working with Harley Race and Les Thatcher in the EPWT training seminar. And 2 Getting the opportunity just to perform in front of a crowd, the traveling, and just cause I get to do what I love to do and that wrestle. 5. What wrestlers (past and present) are some of your favorites? Are
there any that you try to emulate? 6. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling? RR: I think that it is indeed in a slump, but I feel that slowly it is improving again, I think a lot has to do with the economy more than the wrestling itself, cause people are more concerned with bills and stress to have time for leisure and entertainment. Although it is in a slump though I also feel that this is the best time for wrestlers who really want to make it in this business to get their foot in the door, cause the big organizations are so vulnerable for NEW hyped up talent to lead the next wave of Popularity into the wrestling world. 7. What has been your most embarrassing moment in the sport? RR: I think it would have to be being told to do a quick 4 minute, basic match in the show finalizing the EPWT seminar, with Harley Race, and Les Thatcher spectating I was hoping that I could do more with my match, and that the local wrestlers booking the show could have saw a bit more into my match and style and at least given us (me and my opponent)a better story to work with. 8. What do you like most about being a pro wrestler? What do you like least? RR: This is an EASY One, the thing I like most is .EVERYTHING that goes on in that squared circle, the psychology, the athleticism, the oohs the awws, the cheers, the boos, and just being in that ring and having the power to be puppet master with the crowd, I also love interacting with fans after shows, and getting everyones input. I Definitely dis-like, the Egos in the business and the politics. Its a show and it doesnt help anyone if one person thinks they are better than another or wont work with one cause they feel they are too GOOD to work with them etc. Until we reach the pinnacle of pro wrestling, that being what one may consider the big time we are all in the same boat and arent separated by any means. I also hate when some wrestlers leak into your personal life and start confusing show business with real life situations. 9. What do you enjoy doing when you aren't wrestling? RR: I really enjoy spending time building new ideas for moves and ring gear (my friend Tommy Tanaka-Toupoa Makes great ring gear), as well as viewing other independent promotions and the WWE, I like being artistic and spending time with my family, friends and girlfriend. I recently have gotten a lot more serious about working out and building a bigger frame on my body. 10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? |
