Hello to all once again, and welcome to a long overdue return for "Seven
Deadly Questions"... I'm Gerry Strauss, and I know I haven't done
one of these in forever and a day, but what can I say? I offer no excuse,
but if you want to yell at me, or have any other reason to contact me,
gerrystrauss@aol.com will work
just fine... in the meantime, I had the opportunity to check in with EVE,
a young female upstart from the Boston area who trained at Killer Kowalski's...
not just another pretty face, EVE is determined to make it on her talent
as well as her looks... can she succeed? Read on and judge for yourself...
1) As someone whom has worked in matches with both young talent and veterans
(such as Raven, Doink, etc.), have you found a difference in how they
treat an inexperienced young female such as yourself?
Haha. Well, i was only 17 when i started managing/valeting so i think
my own naievte is to blame for most cases! I honestly had no idea what
I was doing. 99% of the time the guys are awesome, very kind, respectful
& fun.
2) Do you prefer exphasizing your athletic ability, or your sex appeal?
Why?
Exphasizing? I'm going to look that up..... I will be the first to admit
that I'm not a natural athlete, but i work very hard at it, and I'm much
more proud of that than I am of my butt or legs!
3) When Killer Kowalski's training facility closed shop, you and others
were diverted to the Chaotic Wrestling school... how do they differ? Do
you think your education was hampered by such a change?
Well I consider myself VERY fortunate to have gotten the base work i did
at Kowalski's. I got to work with Tim McNeany in the latter part of my
time there which was great experience. But Chaotic is a very good school,
Walter is there on weekends, and they're very well run. I also train at
Steve Bradley's school (Top Rope Wrestling) in NH, which is very credible
as well. He's a great teacher.
4) What are your feeling's on racier T&A wrestling companies such
as Women's Extreme Wrestling? Would you consider working for such a promotion?
Why or why not?
I don't know a lot about those promotions, but as far as I can see, WWE
and OVW is the cream of the crop and that's where my sights are set.
5) Almost everyone in wrestling wants to work for the WWE. Almost every
woman in the WWE has implants. Bottom line: If that's what it took, would
you get the boob job?
LoL. I've actually wanted implants since I was much younger. I work out
a lot and I'm comfortable with my body, but (because of working out so
much) i lost a lot of weight and a lot of "boobs" so i feel
that they would compliment my figure. on the flip side, i've had a lot
of surgeries so I'm a little uneasy about having surgery without NEEDING
it. Bottom line though? I think anything that will help you achieve what
you want and makes you feel more confident is a positive, so yes, i would
consider getting implants, even if it's not mandatory...........and if
i had money!
6) Many wrestlers go through back and neck injuries, others have knee
problems. You, on the other hand, ahve had several STOMACH surgeries already
in your career. Explan what caused these stomach problems, how you have
been forced to deal with them, and how they affect your current well-being,
as well as your future in and out of wrestling.
I had severe acid reflux (upper stomach) and a hernia in my lower stomach.
It was a lot harder BEFORE the surgeries because I was really sick all
the time and barely had the strength to work out. I had both problems
corrected (the reflux tore a hole in my esophagus so now I have a wrap
around it) but the wrap came undone after about six months so I had to
have the surgery all over again. it SUCKED because it didn't show up on
X-Rays, etc so I had to have a test where i had a tube going up my nose,
down my throat and into my stomach for 48 hrs (are you grossed out yet?)
so the second time i took a good ten to twelve weeks off and I'm feeling
pretty good. The major setback was that I could only eat soft foods for
a few months so i lost a lot of muscle and basicaly had to teach myself
to eat again. But hopefully that's all over with. I've been good for almost
a year. (knock on wood) it doesn't affect my wrestling at all. I work
at a gym so I havent had a problem getting back into shape. And luckily
the scars aren't too bad. The longest one is only a few inches and the
others are barely visible, they went through my belly button for some
of it.....I'm just enjoying eating normally and wrestling!
7) As an independent entertainer (as all indy wrestlers are), how successful
do you think you can be financially? Without a WWE contract, do you have
any plans or ideas on how to get the most out of wrestling? If so, how?
It's very hard for anyone to make a significant amount of money on the
indy scene. But I enjoy my job and I'm studying for my personal trainer's
liscence. I'm only nineteen and am trying to get the most out of everything
wrestling-wise. I went to the OVW camp in March and am learning as much
as I can. My main goal is obviously WWE, and sacrifices (big and small)
are a part of that. it's all worth it. i love wrestling and have so much
appreciation for the business, now especially. I was sixteen when I joined
Walter's school and didn't understand anything. Now I respect wrestling
for what it is and for how much I love it. Money is honestly the farthest
thing from my mind when I think about wrestling. Sure, that'd be great
too. But I want to go as far as I possibly can......so I do okay financially,
for now at least
