In an ongoing effort to give wrestling fans as much possible info about
as many indy promotions as possible, we begin our newest regular feature,
as we will be doing tape reviews. This has been in the making for quite
some time (actually we were set to do it back in March), unfortunately,
due to all of the "Crew" having full time jobs, it's not always
that easy to sit down and watch a tape, let alone make notes and recap
it. So, we will attempt to do this on a regular basis. Our first victim, JCW PC TV Episodes 17 & 18. Living on Long Island, I get very little, as far as wrestling goes, on television. If I don't want to watch WWE programming, I basically have 2 options. I can watch backyard wrestling on Monday nights on public access (although the day keeps changing and I'm really not a huge backyard fan) or I can watch NYWC, when I remember it's on, if it still is on public access. With that in mind, Robert, Ricky, and Dave were kind enough to give me some JCW TV to watch. Episode 17: Show opens with the Solution and John Shane (speaking from the heart as John Shea) discussing how they met in Brooklyn, put together to team and as of tonight, the Solution will go it alone. Papadon says it's not the end of the Solution or John Shea, it's the beginning. Excellent, and very emotional interview by the 3. JCW PC TV Opening then runs. Very professionally done opening with great music and clips of all the JCW stars and action. Mike Berkowitz and Ricky O are our commentators for the evening. The opening contest features Dave Greco v Showtime Shawn Sheridan w/ Amber. The two trade blows to start until Sheridan hits a neckbreaker, followed by a swinging neckbreaker, on Greco. He follows it up with a clothesline which knocks Greco to the floor. Sheridan hits a neckbreaker off the ring apron to the floor on Greco (ala Buff). Greco, back in the ring takes control, hitting a spinebuster into the turnbuckles. Greco hits a modified DVD but as he goes for the pin, Amber distracts Ref Beeker which allows Shawn time to recover and attack. Straightjacket by Sheridan for the pinfall. Very good match. Very good camera work. Fred the Elephant Boy tells us we will be back after these messages. (How I was able to figure that out was beyond me). We return from a word from Roto Rooter and we find Ricky O. in the ring. Ricky announces their return to Paramus on March 9th for the first ever bikini contest. He introduces the ladies who have already entered. Michelle, Foxxy, Amber, Noel and Extacy enter the ring. Ricky seems to favor Extacy. All the girls start trash talking. Ricky keeps talking about "naked" but it's hard to make it out. Enter Rob Eckos who tells the girls to hit the bricks as no one wants to see them. A Cruiserweight Title match is next. Rob Eckos vs JD Lishus. Lishus takes the early control as Eckos isn't taking the match seriously. Moonsault of the apron onto Eckos. Lishus then missed a suicide dive. Eckos takes control and throws JD back into the ring. The match continues, back and forth until JD goes for a sunset flip from the outside. Eckos grabs the ropes and sits on Lishus and the ref counts 3. Eckos retains his title. Cut to the back where Michelle and Extacy are talking about the bikini contest. Neither seemed all that comfortable on the mic. Neither of them work for JCW anymore. Hmmmm. Fred The Elephant Boy then stammers out the jcwwrestling.com website. Nick Niosi then states, "What Fred is trying to say is.. you're watching JCW TV." Actually, Nick...Fred was trying to say something about the website. How the hell did you get JCW TV out of that? Next up is a three way Tag Team Title match with the Solution, Los Borricuas, and the DRS. Fred and Nick enter the ring. Fred babbles. Honestly, even if the sound was perfect, I doubt anything he said would have been intelligible. Nick then explained the situation but even the announcers seemed lost. Fred then gets on the announcers mic to explain to the viewers at home what happened. I still have no clue. Long story short, Los Boricuas supposedly left a note that they went to Puerto Rico and this is now a Solution v DRS Title match. Havok and KC Blade start off with a test of strength that Havok dominates. Havok then destroys him with punches, boots and a belly to belly suplex. Both men tag in their partners and EC Negro gets the upper hand on Papason. Lots of double teaming by the DRS. Havok finally gets back in and throws both DRS to the floor. He then presses Papadon and throws him out onto them. Referee Beeker gets knocked down as Papadon has KC pinned. John Shane throws a chair into the ring but Havok is blocked and can't use it. Havok is able to grab EC Negro from behind. John Shane comes in with the chair. He swings, EC ducks, and Havok is nailed with the chair. John then hits Papadon with it and the DRS make the cover. Beeker wakes up and makes the 3 count. Your winners and new JCW Tag Team Champions, the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with John The Sure Thing Shane. Shane gets on the mic and talks about how he masterminded the whole thing and how he WAS the Solution. The show ends. Episode 18: The show opens with a recap of last week'e emotional words from Shane and The Solution prior to the match. They then cut to the ring and Fred's announcement regarding Los Boricuas. Show opening plays. Footage is then shown of DRS winning the tag titles from last week. "Backstage after the match", Fred the Elephant boy hears screaming from behind a freezer door. He opens the door to find Los Boricuas. Seems they were locked into the walk in freezer. Fred explained how they are no longer the champions and they got pissed and left. Backstage the Solution talk about how they should have known that Shane was going to screw them over but now it's personal. Mike Berkowitz interviews Rob Eckos about his upcoming match on March 9th. Good mic work, as usual, by Eckos. A recap of Ricky O's bikini contest announcement from last week. "Later that night in a local bar", Noel, Foxxy, Extacy, Michelle, and Amber get into a mini catfight over who will win. Foxxy and Noel brawl. Extacy and Amber start fighting. Michelle sits there. Fred and Ricky break them up and pull them apart. First match of the show, Showtime Shawn Sheridan w/ Amber and Damian Dragon w/ Foxxy vs Jay Lethal and Dave Greco. Shawn and Damian can't decide who will start the match. They are knocked to the floor by Lethal and Greco. They continue to argue. They are hit with baseball slides. They continue to argue until their heads are cracked together and Greco throws Damian into the ring. Damian hits a neckbreaker. Sheridan gets mad, tags in and hits one of his own. Greco and Sheridan brawl to the floor. We get picture in picture which follows the outside action as in the ring, Amber trips Damian who is then full nelson suplexed by Lethal for the 3 count. Greco and Lethal win and leave. Sheridan and Dragon come close to blows but Livewyre and JD Lishus pull them apart. The next match features Josh Daniels vs Dirty Money with Devin Sturgis and Extacy. Daniels works the legs and continuously tries to put Money in the texas cloverleaf. Extacy distracts the ref as Sturgis attacks Daniels in the ring. Daniels starts laying the boots into Sturgis. The camera then started following Money at ringside and missed the in ring action which evidentally had Extacy run in and hit a low blow on Daniels. By the time the camera was back in the ring, Daniels was down. Spinebuster by Dirty for the win. The main event featured Ace Darling and Simon Diamond v Reckless Youth and Inferno. Inferno was announced but never came to the ring as Ace and Simon started to beat down Reckless. Inferno finally hit the ring, made the tag, and clothesline Reckless. Inferno leaves and Ace gets a 2 count. Suddenly, Montoya (with his head bandaged as it showed picture in picture how he was attacked by Ace and Simon earlier) hit the ring. Montoya was tagged in and was able to hit the sitout powerbomb on Simon for the win. Montoya was then announced as the NEW JCW Champion. The locker room emptied to congratulate the new champ. Montoya got on the mic. Simon then got on the mic and snapped at how he was cheated. Fred is in the back with Simon and Ace who have been held back for 11 years!! (according to them). Berkowitz interviews Dirty Money (with Sturgis and Extacy) plugging the March 9th show. In the back, Fred and Nick take the title away from Montoya as his name was not on the contract for that match, it was Inferno and Reckless. Simon retains the title. The show closes with the credits rolling as Montoya, Josh Daniels and Reckless Youth are all at urinals. They tell Daniels they were impressed by his match. Reckless then says they'll be keeping an eye on him, as he looks downward. Overall comments: The opening sequence of the show is phenomenal. Much
better than what I expected (or have seen from other promotions). The
camera is close to the action and for the most part, catches it all. With
the exception of the flubb in the Dirty Money match where the camera was
so close on him it completely missed the in ring interference, the coverage
is good. Commentary by Mike and Ricky is very good. Commentary by Fred
sucks (but it's funny for about 3 minutes). The backstage promos, vignettes,
and angles are all very well done and are a great way to explain angles,
rivalries, etc. Mic work done in the ring is sometimes difficult to hear
but that can be covered up by the announcers recapping for the viewing
audience. If you get the chance to see JCW TV in your area, I would reccommend
it. The show is very entertaining and well done. For more info on JCW
