DVD Review Pro Wrestling Superstars - Past, Present, and Future The DVD begins with our host, Aaron Weiss giving us a preview of what we will see on this DVD. BCW Tag Team Champions, Hacker and Gutter are up first defending their titles against former champs, Tyson Dux and El Tornado. This is a match with two "face" teams, which is not often seen in wrestling these days. The match has a good combination of chain wrestling as well as high flying. As Tyson and Tornado go for their finisher, Gutter pulls down the top rope, causing Tornado to spill to the floor. Hacker and Tyson then exchange two counts until Hacker hits a victory roll for the pinfall. Next up was a three way match between Pierre Carl Oulette, Kevin Steen, and El Generico. Steen and Generico start out by double teaming Oulette with no success. Pierre cleans house before hitting a somersault plancha on his opponents, on the floor. Oulette hits an exploder suplex, throwing Generico into the turnbuckles before hitting a choke sitout powerbomb on Steen. He follows those up with a double back suplex on both men. When Oulette goes to the top rope, Steen pushes him off but misses with an attempted 450 splash on Generico. Generico hits his 450 splash on Steen but Oulette breaks the pin. Oulette then hits with Le Cannonball on Steen for the three count. Great showing by Oulette who seems to be in better shape than ever. For the BCW Heavyweight Title, DLo Brown successfully defends against Sinn. Sinn is accompanied by Tracy Brooks while DLo is accompanied by Angel Williams. DLo dominates the match, even brawling to the floor and using a chair. Back in the ring, DLo continues to have the advantage until Sinn is able to reverse a suplex attempt into a neckbreaker. Soon Tracy gets involved, hitting the "Pie In The Sky" on DLo. Angel runs in and CATFIGHT. The two men try to break up the two women to no avail. As DLo watches the two women roll out of the ring, Sinn hits with an inverted slam. Sinn then misses with an off the top rope back elbow. DLo nails Sinn with the Sky High for the pinfall. In a Falls Count Anywhere, NO DQ Match, Balls Mahoney defeated Bam Bam Bigelow. The match was a bit of a disappointment to me. Bigelow dominated the entire match, busting open Balls and using everything (including tables, ladders, and chairs). After destroying Bigelow for over five minutes, Bigelow set up a table ON Balls, in the ring. Bigelow climbed to the top rope and dove up. Balls rolled out from under the table but Bigelow went through it. Balls quickly climbed to the top and hit a frog splash for the victory. Very anti climactic. In a complete turn around from the last match, the main event featured AJ Styles defeating Red after a Styles Clash off the second rope. Two of today's top cruiserweights showed why they are two of the top in the business today. Again, for me to try and do the match justice would be impossble. The DVD ends with Hacksaw Jim Duggan's comments on the DLo Brown v Sinn match. Overall, a very enjoyable DVD with four very good matches and one clunker. Video quality was excellent as was the commentary on all the matches. |
