The tape opens with a music montage highlighting footage of Slyk Wagner
Brown in action for ROH, NWA TNA, JAPW, JCW, USA PRO, and various other
independent promotions.
Match #1 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs DLo Brown from USA Pro Wrestling.
DLo dominated the opening minutes of the match until April interferes, causing DLo to spill to the floor at ringside. Slyk attacks at ringside to gain the upper hand. After beating down DLo at ringside, the two make their way back into the ring. DLo takes down Slyk and climbs to the top rope. April trips him. Slyk grabs DLo from behind and hold him as April climbs to the top rope. April flies with a cross body block but DLo moves and she hits Slyk with it. DLo follows up with his patented leg drop for a two count. Slyk hits his finisher for a two count. More interference by April backfires allowing DLo to nail Slyk with the Sky High and Frog Splash for the pin.
Match #2 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs Tony Devito (No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere) from ACW.
This match showed that not only can Slyk Wagner Brown wrestle with the
best wrestlers out there today, but he can also hold his own in a brawl.
The match started with some nice chain wrestling by both men. Devito got
distracted, tormenting the referee, which allowed Slyk to hit a dropkick
off the top rope. Devito followed up with a dropkick of his own, knocking
Slyk to the ground at ringside. Devito then went where he is best, grabbing
a chair and attacking Slyk before throwing Slyk, head first, into a fan
at ringside with a giant metal street sign. The two men brawled all over
using everything including broomsticks, garbage cans, buckets (and almost
a barbed wire Spongebob Squarepants). They even brawled onto picnic tables
and into a wodden fence.
Slyk backdropped Devito onto a picnic table, then made his way into a Grand Cherokee. While April tormented Devito, Slyk drove the Cherokee toward Devito. Devito whipped April into the side of the Cherokee. April was shaken up but got back to he feet and started fighting with Devito. Meanwhile, Slyk reversed the Cherokee and took aim at Devito once again. Devito reversed a whip and threw April into the open driver's side door of the Cherokee. Slyk ran out of the Jeep to check on April. As Slyk was making sure she was ok, Devito rolled him up from behind for the three count.
Great hardcore brawl by both men. Lots of unexpected stuff in this one. Slyk proved that he is extremely versatile as he can wrestle, do the high flying, and brawl with the best of them.
Match #3 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs Crazy Ivan from USA Pro Wrestling.
The match quickly spills to the floor and into the crowd. Both men getting
their fair share of shots on the other. Slyk hit a beautiful Asai Moonsault
onto Ivan, at ringside. Slyk clotheslines Ivan over the guard rail, into
the crowd. He then followed up with a running summersault plancha onto
Ivan.
Back in the ring, the two exchanged moves until Ivan decided to grap April.
April accidentally hit the ref when Ivan ducked. Slyk was able to score
a 2 count but missed his followup moonsault. Ivan grabbed his gas mask
and hit Slyk. As the ref was going to call for the DQ, Ivan hit him as
well. Slyk recovered and hit the Holy Slyk and made the cover. The ring
announcer slid in and made the three count.
Match # 4 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs The Samoan Storm Afa Jr at WXW Sportsfest 2003.
April held open the ropes for Afa. As he got into the ring, Slyk kicked
the ropes, crotching Afa on them. April immediately set up a table at
ringside. April got onto the ring apron as Slyk went for a suplex. Afa
blocked the suplex and pushed Slyk into the ropes, into April, who hit
the ground. Afa with a rollup for 2.
Afa Jr took control with an armdrag and a dropkick. Afa whipped Slyk into
the ropes. Slyk reversed it and April pulled down the top rope, causing
Afa to fall out of the ring. Slyk picks up Afa as if he was going for
a Samoan Drop. He walks toward the corner, where April is now on the top
rope. April comes off the top with a Blockbuster like move on Afa.
The table is now set up in the ring. Slyk sets Afa on the top rope and follows him up. Afa reverses and pushes Slyk off the ropes BUT April was able to move the table out of the way in time. Afa then sets up the table and goes for a sit out powerbomb on April but this time Slyk moves the table in time. Back to the turnbuckles. Slyk attempts a superplex through the table. Afa blocks and Rock Bottom's Slyk off the ropes, through the table for the pinfall.
Match # 5 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs Hurricane John Walters from the New England Invitational Tournament.
WOW! Two of the best on the indy scene against each other. The chain wrestling, reversals, counters, and submission moves in this match were too amazing to even attempt to describe.
John Walters, while chasing April around ringside, was nailed by Slyk Suicide Dive. Slyk and John also fought on the ring apron where Slyk hit a DDT. ON THE RING APRON!! Both men fell to the floor. More amazing submission moves by Walters until Slyk fought back and placed Walters on the top rope. Slyk attempted a hurracanrana but Walters blocked it and hit his finisher on Slyk for the pinfall.
Simply amazing.
Match # 6 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs Johnny Ova in the JCW Jcup 2003
Prior to the match, Slyk cuts a promo about the upcoming bout with Johnny Ova.
Having been there live, this was the match of the night at the JCup. On tape, I can easily see why it was.
At one point during the match, Slyk press slammed Ova, dropped him to the mat and immediately hit a standing moonsault for a two count. DAMN!! That could have been a hell of a finish! Ova goes for a hurracanrana off the top but Slyk blocks it and reverses it with a spinning rock bottom off the top for two.
Ova goes up to the top rope for a moonsault but April trips him. Slyk grabs Ova and hits the "Holy Slyk" for the three count. This match was awesome. Looking at the two men and the difference in their size and technique, one could be a little concerned that it would be a match totally dominated by Slyk. However, Ova kept Slyk on his toes with his aerial assault. Phenomenal job by both men.
Match # 7 - Slyk Wagner Brown and April Hunter vs The DRS for the JAPW Tag Team Titles
The DRS attack before the opening bell. April and Slyk fight back hitting double flying head scissors, clotheslines, and baseball slides to the floor. EC Negro attempts a low blow on April, to no avail. (Hello? Don't you need balls for a ball shot to be effective?) April follows up with a series of armdrags and a float over suplex for a twocount.
The DRS get the upper hand, with some double teaming, and work over April. On several occasions, April was able to make the tag to Slyk, but the ref didn't see it and wouldn't allow it. After controlling April for a long time, the DRS were no longer able to prevent her from making the tag to Slyk.
Slyk came in and cleaned house. An off the top rope leg lariat by Slyk onto both DRS members was a sight to be seen. Slyk was soon knocked to the floor and DRS set up April for their finisher (similar looking to the Doomsday Device). As EC came off the top rope, April ducked and rolled up KC for the pinfall and the tag team titles.
Another phenomenal match showing why both Slyk and April are such hot commodities on the indy circuit today.
Match #8 - Slyk Wagner Brown with April Hunter vs Mafia for JAPW
Another match I had the pleasure of seeing in person. This match is a Match of the Year Candidate.
These two men beat the HELL out of each other. At one point, Slyk climbed to the top rope for a moonsault. Mafia got up and ran to the corner and nailed Slyk in the back. Slyk was knocked off the top rope, over the ringpost and to the guard rail at ringside. The two men fought on the floor and in the ring.
With a little help from April, Slyk was able to gain control until Mafia hit the burning hammer. Slyk kicked out. Slyk took control and was able to hit his finisher. Mafia kicked out. Mafia set up Slyk, seated on the mat in the corner. He covered Slyk's chest and face with 5-6 steel chairs. Mafia then ran from the other side of the ring and hurled himself full force into the pile. Slyk looked dead. Two count as April was able to point out that Slyk's hand was in the ropes. Slyk made it back to his feet and pummeled Mafia some more. Slyk was whipped into the turnbuckle where he leaped up, did a backflip and was caught in the Burning Hammer for the pin.
The crowd errupted as both men got a standing ovation, and rightfully so. This was match of the day and can easily be 2003 Match of the Year.

This tape is a must have for any Slyk Wagner Brown fan. It's a must have for any April Hunter fan. Hell, this tape is a must have for any fan of professional wrestling, period. Not only do you get to see some of the best high flying action but you also get to see some amazing chain wrestling and some hardcore action that has to be seen to be believed. The tape quality is very good and the price is right. I strongly suggest this tape to anyone who is a fan of wrestling.
