Meet Megan and Riley...better known as The Plastics. These
two ladies have a mission. That mission: To manage their way to the top
of the professional wrestling world! Their motto: "As a matter of
fact, the world DOES revolve around us!" Once again, WrestlingClothesline.com
brings you an exclusive 10 Questions With interview with some of the most
talked about, up and coming women on the wrestling scene. Here it is...
10 Questions With... The Plastics!!
1. What made you decide to become involved in professional
wrestling?
Megan: I always loved watching wrestling when I was a kid. Growing up,
it was never something that I knew you could "be." When I finally
learned the process (I was about sixteen), I took the steps to getting
myself there.
Riley: Actually, it was Megan that influenced me a bit to join the wonderful
world of wrestling. I was really looking for a great workout and was just
going to train to get fit. But, it ended up being so much more than that
when I realized what I could really get myself into. And, I am so happy
about that.
2. Did you have any professional training? If so, whom with?
M: I have had the opportunity to be trained by so many different workers.
The first school I had attended, I was training with Roderick Strong and
Erick Stevens. Shortly after I started, the school closed. I then started
FXE, where I was trained by D-Von Dudley, Matt Bentley, Ricky Vega, and
others. I was lucky to see things from different points of view, which
I feel has only made my knowledge of wrestling greater.
R: My training is credited to FXE, where I as well trained with D-Von
Dudley, Matt Bentley, Ricky Vega, and some others.
3.
Being a woman in a predominately male sport, are you ever treated differently
by wrestlers or promoters?
M: It is not the case ALL of the time, but I have found that you do, unfortunately,
run into people who do not support females wanting to be in the wrestling
world. It's unfortunate that people act that way, but for every one person
that is out there like that, you have several others that are willing
to share their knowledge with you.
R: Honestly, sometimes. I've come to realize that it is a part of wrestling
and there will pretty much always be some people that treat me differently
because I am female. But, I've dealt with it in other sports that I've
played such as baseball. So, we as the Plastics keep our heads up and
just like to talk about them behind their backs. ....it's what we do!
4. What do you enjoy most about being in pro wrestling? What do you
like least?
M: I get to do what I thought was the coolest thing in the entire world,
when I was growing up. You can't beat that. I also love just learning
about the sport and being afforded the opportunity to be apart of it.
I also love that I get to wear some pretty cute outfits! I think the thing
that I like least is that there are still people out there that stereotype
women wanting to be in the business. One girl can change their opinion
about all of the rest of the girls out there--which is sad. I don't think
alot of the women out there get the credit that they deserve. We are so
much more than pretty faces.
R: I think pro wrestling is like having one ginormous family and you're
constantly meeting cousins and other family you didnt even know you had.
It's great having a bond with people and being able to actually relate
and talk to others that understand the obscure life we live. On the flip
side of that, I dont like being sterotyped. period.
5. What do you think of the current state of pro wrestling, in particular
women's wrestling?
M: When I think back to the evolution of women in wrestling, I think it's
pretty fantastic that women are actually getting to wrestle rather than
being just eye candy. I think it's terrific that the female roster has
expanded on certain television programs. I think we still have a long
way to go before all of us females feel like we're satisfied with the
state of women in wrestling, but it has definitely come leaps and bounds
ahead of where it was at from the time I began watching it when I was
younger.
R: I think things are progressing well for womens wrestling. It's great
to see the amount of women on tv that actually get to get inside the ring
and show off a bit. But, we still have a ways to go before women get the
respect that's due.
6. What has been the highlight of your careers thus far?
M: Gosh, I honestly have no idea. I feel like every time I get out there,
it's a new highlight because it's always better and better. Riley and
I have experienced so many things together during our short careers so
far as The Plastics. Maybe our biggest highlight is actually doing something
out-of-the-box.
R: The highlight of my career I would say would probably be my first show
and just proving to myself that I can do it. And also the time that the
Plastics debuted was a pretty big deal.
7. What have been some of the promotions you have worked for? Do you
have any favorites?
M: Between the two of us, we've worked for TNA, Full Impact Pro, BELIEVE,
Pro Wrestling Fusion, Coastal Wrestling Association, UCW, IPWF, ICWF,
AWA Pro, Lucha Libre International, BCW, and more.
R: Megan said it all!
8. Who have been some of your favorite people to manage?
M: Ohhhh man. I enjoyed when we got to work with our BFF Fear because
it was such an unlikely pairing. It was also exciting to work with Morgan
Davis because he has such a fighting spirit within. I also loved working
with the Heartbreak Express because they taught me so much--which I am
very grateful for--and always had a good time with what they did.
R: I agree that Fear was one of my favorites. The Heartbreak Express was
a good match up and a good time. And, the YRR was fun as well.
9. When you aren't wrestling, what do you enjoy doing?
M: I am obsessed with music. I love going to concerts-- for bands that
most people have no idea even exist. I've worked in some way shape or
form, in the music industry, since I was a teenager. I now work at a record
label and feel like it's not even a job since I get to be around music
all day. I am always interested in checking out new bands. To me, that's
a good time. I would also like to add that I am a huge Adam Lambert fan.
<3
R: I am always out watching some band somewhere. :) And, I take weekend
trips all over the place quite a bit. And, we can't leave out the mall!
DUH! Megan and I like to hit up the mall and then spend our time re-fueling
at Moe's! Welcome to Moe's!!! yum yum!
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
M: I hope that in five years I will still be in the wrestling business,
having learned alot, and having grown alot. There's so much to learn,
so I just hope that I can soak up as much as I can so I can grow to be
a better performer and all around professional wrestler. I don't ever
see the Plastics *not* being the Plastics. Afterall, it was a name that
was given to us... and lucky for us, since we're not fake people, we'll
always be the Plastics.
R: Being world wide phenoms! haha jk! But, seriously still being a Plastic.
Its kind of hard to not be a Plastic when it's who you are! :)
