Tony Burma Need more proof that the Doghouse truly was an amazing place to develop talent? Tony Burma is just one more, in a list of many, talented wrestlers who were trained at the Doghouse and continue to make a name for themselves on the indy scene. Tony was nice enough to answer 10 Questions for The Wrestling Clothesline. 1. What made you decide to become a professional wrestler? I knew this was all for me at age 4 when Hulk Hogan and Tito Santana faught Macho Man and Jesse Ventura at the Nassau Coliseum, I had floor seats and was on my dad's shoulders, this is my first memory of this great sport, and from that moment on, I discovered a passion and a calling in life, as time wore on and I got older I got hungrier and this became a dream I felt I had to make a reality. 2. Who trained you? How did you find them as your trainer? I signed up to train full time at the Doghouse in the spring of 2001, The Tower of Torture was my trainer there, and I got to step in the ring with some great talent, guys like DRS, Homicide, The Solution, Boogalou, all the doghouse guys who trained there on the regular, and every time you step in the ring with any of those guys you are gonna learn something. The Doghouse closed a year later, that fall I went to Critical Mass, they took me in, I showed them what I already knew, and they have done nothing short of an incredible job with me. I have really learned so much there with trainers like John Curse, and getting in the ring with guys like Livewyre, Dan Barry, Tyler Payne, Dickie Rodz, Mike Mayhem, Crusher Doogan, the list goes on. Everyone brings a different element to the ring and as a student of the game I try to absorb as much as I can, from where ever I can, from whoever I can. Now that was the long answer, the short and simple answer would had been when I trained at the Doghouse I was primarily trained by Laithon, and currently my head trainer is John Curse. 3. What promotions do you/have you worked for? 4. Of all the promotions you have worked for, which have been your
favorites? Why? 5. What has been your most embarassing moment in the sport so far? Haven't had a real embarassing moment just yet. (Knock on Wood) 6. What has been your most memorable moment in the business thus far? In a short period of time in working shows, there have already been quite a few memories for me, but unquestionably the most memorable moment had to be June 7th at the Deer Park Community Center when Livewyre beat Dickie Rodz in a 5 star match for the World Title in his last match with us before he left for OVW. The send off we had for him after the match was the single greatest moment I have ever been apart of in my short history with this business. The feeling inside the community center at that very second was off the page, the emotion involved can't even be described, only felt. I'll never forget it. 7. What wrestlers do you most enjoy stepping into the ring with or against? I loved working Livewyre and Johnny Ova 2 of my best matches right there. Recently I had a match during the NYWC title tournament against Tyler Payne which I thought was good and enjoyed working it, and I am also looking forward to our rematch on September 27th. So I guess as of right now those are my 3 favorite guys to work against. 8. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling? Do you think the little guys, like NYWC, can continue to survive when so many indy promotions are closing their doors? Pro Wrestling is hurting badly right now, primarily the WWE, it sucks, and its bland and boring. I don't even make an effort to watch it. As far as indy wrestling, I think it is doing well because there is alot of talent out there. As far as "Little Guys" like NYWC go, I honestly don't see NYWC as being a "Little guy" for much longer, I think that pretty much answers that part of the question, NYWC is onto big things. 9. When you're not wrestling, what do you enjoy doing? Well I just started going back to school, and I am making a legit attempt to get in better shape so I try to get myself to the gym when possible lately, I work, and when none of that is going on, you can rest assured I am partying. 10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 5 Years from now, I hope to be a highly recognized and respected wrestler
and done with college.
