Travis Blake
Once a popular performer, Travis Blake decided his ascent
to the top would be easier if he trampled over everyone in his path, including
his friends. And that's exactly what this cocky superbrat did. When he
wants to, Blake can trade moves with the best of them. But now he prefers
to play by his own rules. Combines wrestling talent with sneakiness to
overcome his adversaries. Knows how to mix scientific wrestling savvy
with a dirty bag of tricks. Epitomizes conceit at its highest level. He
believes he is every woman's fantasy and every man's envy. His style frustrates
opponents to the point that they lose the cool that he so carefully keeps.
Blake rudely heckles competitors, insults the fans, and badgers everyone
else in between.
1. What made you ever decide to get involved in professional
wrestling?
-Pro-wrestling was something I've always wanted to do since the first
time I saw WWF Saturday morning superstars sometime in the summer of 1992.
2. What was your training regimine like? Who trained you? How did
you go about finding them?
-I started at the IWA Cruel School in Pennsylvania with head trainer Rapid
Fire Maldando in January 2001, I discovered the school through the Internet.
It was at an IWA show that I met and talked to Kevin Knight who invited
me to come to the IWF camp in West Paterson NJ, which I have been attended
since the summer of 2001
3. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling?
-It's definitely on a downswing right now, but wrestling has always had
highs and lows. Eventually a new generation will discover it and wrestling
will boom again.
4. Who have been your favorite people to step into the ring with or
against? Why?
-I really enjoy bringing out the best in my opponent no matter what experience
level they area at. I get a genuine sense of accomplishment with the knowledge
that I brought out the best in them. Some of my personal favorite matches
were bouts with; Salvador Sincere - simply because of who he is, as well
as matches with Damian Adams, Fred Sampson, Kevin Knight, Shawn Donavan,
and Dan McGuire because there was just a certain unique magic to them.
5. What is the best thing about being a pro wrestler? What is the
worst?
-The best: the feeling of being in front of a crowd, whether it's 50 people
or 300 people the feeling cannot be duplicated anywhere else.
The worst: the entire indy seen in general. There's no more territories
out there and just a barrage of ticket-sellers killing the business.
6. What wrestlers do you enjoy watching?
-I watch a lot from the 1988 to 1995 era, anyone from Tully Blanchard,
to Bret Hart, to 1-2-3 Kid, to Rick Martel, Ric Flair and the list goes
on. As far as current wrestlers, Shawn Michaels is still by far the best.
7. What do you enjoy doing when you are not wrestling?
-I really have no other hobbies outside of wrestling. The only thing I
do is work, and I put in a lot of hours too, this way I can still support
myself and keep my wrestling hobby.
8. What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
-Hands down, appearing on WWE Monday Night Raw on October 4th 2004.
9. If you had to do it all over again is there anything you would
change?
-I would have started lifting way before I even started training to wrestle,
as well as, trying amateur wrestling in high school.
10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
-Somewhere, anywhere, in wrestling.
