It has been three storied years. On Sunday, March 16th, the West Coast Wrestling Connection celebrated its third anniversary with the amazing fans in Salem, OR at the Chemawa Indian School. Fans were treated to two, three-way challenges for the WCWC Tag Team Titles and the WCWC Championship!
The evening began with Gentleman George Michael pleading his case for his claim to the WCWC Championship. WCWC Owner Jeff Manning and Commissioner JT Allen agreed to give George his shot at the title tonight. All he had to do was wrestle JD Mason. If he beat JD Mason, George would be involved in a three-way dance for the title taking on Moose and WCWC Champion JD Michaels. If George was disqualified, he would still be allowed into the match; however, he would be fined $15,000. If he lost by pinfall or submission, he would not receive a WCWC Title shot.
**JD Mason def Gentleman George Michael by DQ JD Mason had the Salem crowd solidly behind him as he attempted to deprive George of his title shot. He maintained a fast pace in attempt to tire out the General Manager. George was nearly overwhelmed early in the match. He was able to grab control for a short period of time, however Masons tenacity nearly proved too much for the former champion. Frustrated, George used a metal object to jab Mason in the throat causing Jeff The Ref Manning to disqualify him. Commissioner JT Allen declared JD Mason the victor and proceeded to issue a fine to George for $15,000.
**Draven Vargas def Kellen The Hellion Raeth After over a years absence, Draven Vargas made his return to the WC. While the fans were excited to see him, his opponent, Kellen Raeth, did certainly not give him a warm welcome. It was a hard fought match, but Draven was able to outmaneuver his opponent to secure the pinfall victory.
After the two competitors returned to the locker room, the fans were treated to Wildcards Vegas Dreams. Wildcard and his manager and CEO of Z-Man Enterprises, Brian Zane, discussed former Lightning Division Champion, Bolo. This brought out the fan favorite. Wildcard attempted to avoid confrontation by forcing Bolo to read a prepared statement. This brought out Commissioner JT Allen who immediately set up a match between Wildcard and Bolo.
**Bolo and Wildcard went to a Double Countout Wildcard spent the entire match running away from Bolo. Every time Bolo would begin an offensive, Wildcard would dive out of the ring taking full advantage of the referees 10 count. After becoming seriously frustrated, Bolo chased after Wildcard. He finally caught him, but Wildcard held onto the ringpost as if his lie depended on it. Neither competitor answered the 10 count resulting in a double countout as the two continued to battle (and run) into the locker rooms.
**WCWC Tag Team Title Match: The Franchise Players def Tommy C/Stony McMoverson and Shoot 2 Kill Dancin Tommy C really took the brunt of this match. Baeden and Snyder of S2K didnt appear to have as much interest in winning the titles as they did hurting people. S2K and Cedric and Dr. Kliever effectively cut Tommy off from his partner, Stony. His drive and resilience kept his team in the match, though. Once he was able to tag in Stony, he came in like a house of fire! Sadly, it just wasnt enough as the Franchise Players took advantage of a distracted referee to retain their titles. After the match, tensions between Shoot 2 Kill and Zane continued. Baeden and Snyder confronted him for messing up their match. Zane, frustrated, slapped Baeden across the face. As they stared Zane down, S2K slowly returned to the back.
**Darin Corbin def Kris Klash In a rematch from last month, Kris Klash looked to even the score with the despised dancing wrestler from the Midwest. Klash dictated the pace of the match as he firmly took control early on. Aggravated, Corbin ducked out of the ring and grabbed a mic. He stated that he was the one that controlled the pace of the match. When he returned the two wrestled in what can only be described as slow motion. It was unbelievable and it drove the crowd wild. Thinking he had gained the upper hand, Klash went in for a lock up, but Corbin suddenly switched gears and came back to normal speed. Klash was surprised but reacted quickly. Pat Kelley distracted the referee giving Corbin a chance to hit a low blow and pin Klash in the middle of the ring. As Corbin returned to the back, Tommy C set a chair up behind him that Corbin tripped over. Tommy laughed at him and told him it was payback for embarrassing him last month. **Hair vs Hair Match: G-Shock def Caden Mathews Jason Styles was unable to compete due to a knee injury. Caden, thinking he had the night off decided to celebrate his 22nd birthday with the unbelievable fans in Salem. The Franchise Players had other plans, though. They talked General Manager Gentleman George Michael into allowing G-Shock to replace Styles. This match built on the tensions that began when these two first met late last year. G-Shock had plenty of assistance from Cedric and Dr. Kliever while Caden held his own against them. In a match that literally had the crowd on their feet, G-Shock put his feet on the ropes to grab the victory. Being a specialist with precision operations, Dr. Kliever led the haircutting of Caden Mathews. Dejected, and vowing revenge, Caden returned to the locker room.
**WCWC Championship Match: JD Michaels vs Moose vs Gentleman George Michael This was a No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere match. Michaels and George made early attempts at forming an alliance against Moose, however the Championship was more important to the two men than any agreement. There were numerous near falls that were broken up by others. Eventually, they spilled out into the crowd. Moose and JD Michaels battled up into the bleachers. Moose, stunned on the floor was hit as JD Michaels waded through the crowd to climb to the top of the bleachers and launched a huge plancha! It looked like the match was over until George broke up the pin with a chain. They battled back into the ring as Moose began to gain control of the match. He was fighting to reverse a sunset flip from JD Michaels as George ran into him and got hit with a back suplex. With all three mens shoulders clearly on the mat, referee JT Allen counted the pinfall and declared the match a No Contest as all three men had been pinned. Further, he declared the Title vacant and placed it in escrow.
The show came to an end as JT Allen promised the fans that a champion would be crowned Saturday, April 5th in Roseburg, OR at the National Guard Armory.
