10 Questions with Alura

1. What made you decide to get involved in professional wrestling?

My neighbor, Johnny Thundar, got me involved in it. He saw me kind of going downhill and thought I needed something productive to do. So he took me under his wing and brought me to train at ECPW pro wrestling school in November of 2001. I began my training there and quickly fell in love with this business. I eat, sleep and breathe it 24/7. I decided immediately that I didn't want to be just another girl sitting at ringside clapping. I want to be a worker and be known for my in ring abilities.

2. Once you made the decision to get into the sport. What did you do next? How do you let it be known that you want to get involved? How do you actually get work?

Like I said Johnny completely took me under his wing. He let promoters know that he had a female worker if they needed one on their shows. Promoters began giving me tryouts and I got pretty good reactions from the fans. It just kind of took of from there.

3. What promotions do you (have you) worked for?

SSCW, ECPW, IHPW, ACW, UWF and WWA New England.

4. What do you feel is the best thing about being in pro wrestling?

The fact that you can tell a story physically and get people to react the way you want them too. It's a great feeling to get a reaction from the fans. It lets you know you are doing your job correctly.

5. What is the worst thing about being in wrestling?

Sometimes you get ridiculous fans that yell stupid things. When they think just because you are a woman you have to go in there and show off your body like that is all you have to offer. I hate the labeling.

6. Who are some of the women in wrestling that you enjoy watching or enjoyed watching in the past?

I'd have to say Ivory, Lita and Victoria. And I like the progress Trish has been making as a worker because it gives us all hope that if she can do it we can all do it because she was a fitness model before getting involved in this business.

7. What is it like being a female in a male dominated sport? Are you treated as an equal or do some of the guys treat you poorly or just hit on you because you are in "their environment"?

Johnny always protected me. I have been treated like "one of the boys" in the lockerrooms I have been in. I have to say that I have worked for really good promotions where the wrestlers are real gentlemen.

8. What do you like to do when you are not working in the wrestling business?

Going to the gym is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy tanning, watching movies, playing and watching any kind of sport involving contact, shopping which is a sport to me lol, and I enjoy reading.

9. How can fans/promoters learn more about you or where you'll be appearing next?

Well, I have a website on the way. But currently you can contact me via email alura@sscwwrestling.com.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

It's hard to say. This is a tough business to make it in but of course I would like to see myself in the WWE as would anyone. But no matter where I am working I definitely see myself wrestling top quality matches.
