Becky Bayless She is quickly making a name for herself on the indy scene in the Northeast. Having worked for numerous promotions from the LIWF to JAP and JCW, Becky Bayless not only stands in her man's corner but isn't afraid to get in thr ring if she has to. I'd like to thank Becky for taking the time to answer our 10 Questions. 1. Why professional wrestling? Of all the other activities you could have gotten involved in, why did you choose this one? I chose it because I've loved it pretty much all my life. When I was growing up, I loved nothing else the same way I loved professional wrestling, and I knew it was what I wanted to do when I grew up. If I could entertain kids (and adults, of course) the way I was entertained, and actually make a career of it, that would definitely be a dream come true. Of course on the indy level very few people are fortunate enough to be making a living off of wrestling, but to me that doesn't matter, I choose to spend ALL of my free time doing this, because I love it. 2. How did you get your start? What promotion was the first one you worked for? I got my start working for Jason Knight's ACW in CT. Jason was looking for more girls and a friend of mine worked for him and set it up. I was incredibly nervous, and at that point I was completely untraineded and clueless, but once I got a taste, I knew I had made the right decision.Fate took its course, and it was at one of Jason's shows that I met several workers from the Doghouse who invited me to come train with them, which lead me to start training with Homicide, and the rest is history. 3. What promotions do you (have you) work(ed) for? Do any stand out as being favorites or least favorites to you? I have worked for, in no particular order: LIWF, USA Pro, ICW, JAP, JCW, GLOOW, TWF, ACW, and HWA. Two that definitely stand out as my favorites are USA Pro and GLOOW. A lot of people have their own opinions about USA Pro and owner Frank Goodman, but in my experience, Frank has been one of the most helpful and respectful people I have ever worked for, and I am proud to be part of his locker room. Plus, that locker room in itself is a show, and it's a great privledge to share a locker room with the veterans that are on the USA Pro shows. Plus, I am a Queens girl, so I always get just a little bit more excited about working in my hometown. As far as GLOOW, that is another place people have a lot of opinons about, but GLOOW was the 2nd place I ever worked, and since the beginning Dan Kowal has been both helpful and respectful to me, and when GLOOW runs we put on a good show, but more than that, all the girls chill and have fun, so I always look forward to working for them. 4. You don't seem too scared to take a bump. Many valets and/or managers won't do it. Why do you? What makes you decide if you will or won't take abump? Have you ever been forced to do a spot you didn't want to do? I take bumps because I think it is an important part of me being out there. If it's going to add to the show, I want to do it. I am a big fan of ECW, and their girls took some crazy bumps, and it really added to their product. I love hearing the crowd's reaction when I take a move, but the fact of the matter is that I'm usually not doing anything at all more severe than what the other wrestlers take on a daily basis, people just make it a bigger deal because I am a girl. I decide if I will take a bump if I know and trust the person and I know I will be able to take it properly. I would never put myself at risk, and I think to take a move I wasn't trained to do would be plain stupid. I have never been forced to do a spot I didn't want to, and that's one of the most important things I was taught...to never do anything I don't feel comfortable doing. I love this business, but I will never compromise either my health or my ideals. 5. What valets do you enjoy watching? Are there any you try to pattern
yourself after? Are there any traits you take from anyone you've seen
in the There are so many great women that I enjoy watching. Sensational Sherri had to be the first, then Nancy Sullivan, Tammy Sytch and Dawn Marie are some of my favorites. I can't say I pattern myself after anyone, Becky Bayless is really just an extension of me. She's a little ditzy and a lot bubbly, but she's a lot smarter than she looks. 6. What has been your most memorable moment in pro wrestling thus far? By far my most memorable moment was working at the Elks Lodge for the first time this past August, for so many reasons. It was my first time working in Queens (my hometown), and also my first time in an angle with my Homicide (my trainer). I took the cop killa, which for the rest of my life will probably remain the move I was most nervous to take. It was a big deal for me.

7. As a woman in a predominately male sport, are you treated any differently? Have you ever been put in any uncomfortable situations or have you been expected to do things your not willing to do? I have been very lucky since I started in this business to have some very smart and caring people take me under their wing. I'm sure traveling with them kept me out of situations I hear a lot of other women have to endure. I get treated differently in the sense that many people assume because I am a woman I have no idea what's going on, but the people who know me know that pay close attention to everything that goes on around me. 8. What do you think of the current state of professional wrestling...indy wrestling in particular? I can't say wrestling is in a good place right now. If I watch any of it, it's usually just old tapes. Having one company has done way more harm than good. There are a lot of people working the indies who I feel deserve to be making a living doing what they love, but there's not really a place for them. It keeps a lot of good talent on the indies, so hopefully with feds like ROH putting an alternative product out there, indy wrestling can continue to grow. 9. How can fans or promoters find out more about you or contact you? My website! Currently www.beckybayless.cjb.net.
