The following interview was conducted with Jeff Peterson in 2001. In memory of Jeff, I am reposting it. Jeff Peterson I have been involved in this Great Sport of wrestling for about a year now. What made you decide to become a professional wrestler? Well, I always have loved wrestling. My Uncle Jim Kettner who is the Owner and Promoter of the ECWA got me into wrestling. So I owe everything to him Who has trained you and what made you choose them as your trainer(s)? I was trained at the School of the PCW and ECWA called WrestleTech by my Uncle Jim Kettner and "The Superstar" Lance Diamond. A lot of other guys such as 2 Cold Scorpio, Reckless Youth and Marty Janetty have helped me out as well. When was your first pro match? (against whom and for what promotion) My first Pro Match was March 21 the night of the Second Annual Super 8 Tournament. It was for the East Coast Wrestling Association. I was in a King of the Ring Rumble and I started it out with the "Classy Frenchmen" Mr. ooh La La. I out smarted OOH LA LA taking him of his feet with a missile drop kick then Finally I was ganged up and thrown out of the Rumble. I was very nervous my first match going out in front of almost 600 people but at the end it all worked out and its a night I will never forget. There's 2 things in wrestling you never forget your first and your last matches. They're always the most memorable Thus far, who has been your toughest opponent? Why? My toughest opponent so far as been Mike Quackenbush. We wrestled each other in a lucha libre match for the ECWA on OCT 17th. Mike and I battle for close to 15 mins and everytime I would hit a big move on him he would kick out and the same goes for him he would hit one on me and I would kick. We have similar styles and it was hard for both of us to defeat the other. And finally I made a rookie mistake and Mike caught me with a liger bomb from the top rope. I hope to meet Mike again in the ring sometime soon What wrestlers do you enjoy watching in action? I enjoy watching Rey Mesterio Jr, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Jushin Liger, Shawn Michaels I love to watch technical and high flying wrestling What wrestler, living or deceased, would be your opponent in your dream bout? I would love to wrestle Rey Mesterio Jr. We have the same styles and I could also learn some stuff by wrestling him. What promotions have you worked for? I have worked for the ECWA, PCW, IPW Florida, and several of other Indies in FL What has been the highlight of your career thus far? I am just happy to be in the ring. I am only 5'8 145 and a lot of people have said to me in the past I am to small and I could never be a wrestler BLAH BLAH BLAH and all that stuff so being able to be in there and doing a good job at is just a highlight its self. Getting to meet different people is a highlight as well. Working out with 2 cold Scorpio and Marty Janetty are things that I have also enjoyed in wrestling. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? That's a long time to be thinking about. I started when I was 16 and I am 17 so being young is a very positive thing I have going for me. Right now I just want to take each step at a time and what happens happens. I would like to work for the WCW or WWF or even go to Japan but there 10,000 other wrestlers that want to do the same things. Its all about being in the right place at the right time. The ECWA's Super 8 tournament is something I also would love to be in. But does any one know what the future holds for them Do you know what your future hold for you??? But one thing is for certain I am gonna keep on learning and always keep my Ears open and Mouth shut and just go with the FLOW. And if I do make it BIG in wrestling I will never forget who got me in and thats my Uncle Jim. Thanks a lot for having this interview with me. |
