Ten Questions With . . .

Slyk Wagner Brown

Trained by Killer Kowalski, Slyk Wagner Brown has worked for numerous indy promotions throughout the USA, as well as for the WWF. With April Hunter in his corner, they have both taken the wrestling world by storm. Slyk Wagner Brown was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to answer 10 Questions for us. Thanks to Mr. Brown for answering them for the Wrestling Clothesline.

1. What made you decide to get involved in professional wrestling?
My aunt was a big wrestling fan, so she introduced me to the sport. My friends use to fool around in the yard all the time and I kind of grew attached to it. I was an amateur wrestler in High School, so I decided to train with Kowalski's in Malden, Ma after I graduated. The rest is history!

2. What kind of training, if any did you have?
I was trained by "Killer" Kowalski in Malden, Ma.

3. How did the two of you get together? Who's idea was it to team you together?
April actually worked her 1st show as my manager. From there she started working with the same local fed that I worked for doing her own thing. A few months later we both decided that it would be in our best interest if we branched out and started work together.

4. What promotions have you worked for?
In no particular order I've had the pleasure to work with Killer Kowalski's All Star Wrestling, WWF, UPW, NWA New England, LAW, WSW, EWA, WWA, NECW, CW, ECWA, MCW, MWF & ACW.

5. How did you get started working for the ECWA? How did Jim hear about you?
I spoke with Kevin Kelly and told him that I wanted to start traveling and work with some really good promotions, so he suggested Jim Kettner's ECWA. He took care of everything and here we are. Thank you, Kevin.

6. What has been your most memorable moment in wrestling thus far?
Given the opportunity to work on Smackdown in front of 20 thousand plus. And becoming the Head Trainer at Killer Kowalskis.

7. Of all the promotions you have worked for which has been your favorite (and least favorite) and why?
All the promotions I've worked for has treated me well. But the ECWA stands out in my mind the most. The promotion is very well organized and the boys know what's going on before the fans do. As for the least, I would have to say the unanimous decision lies with CW, right here in New England.

8. What is your favorite thing about being a pro wrestler? What is your least favorite thing?
My favorite thing about being a pro wrestler has to be the feeling that I get when someone comes up to me and says "you did great tonight, I really liked your match." That's a wonderful feeling, being able to touch someone's heart that much. My least favorite is the traveling and dealing with hotels, but it's as much a part of the business as everything else.

9. What do you think of the current state of pro wrestling? Vince McMahon now controls a majority of the mainstream wrestling and it looks as if attendance and ratings for his shows are dropping. Where do you see wrestling headed in the next year?
Times are tough. But things will pick up again. Wrestling is like the stock market, sometimes dollars are up and sometimes dollars are down. That's life and wrestling is a part of life.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I don't know. I wish I had a magic ball or something but I don't. However, I would like to think that I'm still happy and making a living doing at what I do best...pro wrestling.
